Just so everyone knows Tyus is an expiring contract. So it's not like it wolves would be investing a ton into him. I think Tyus is better then Jmac. The question in my mind is Tyus better then Hernangomez?

Restricted free agent G Josh Hart is closing in on a three-year, $38 million deal to stay with the New Orleans Pelicans, his agents Aaron Mintz, Steven Heumann and Dave Spahn of @CAA_Basketball tell ESPN.

That's a really nice move for the Pelicans. Outside of that, they had a terrible off-season.

I guess that does make a difference. And if overall its apples to apples in terms of $ between these Tyus and Juancho, I think I'd prefer Tyus. There is a downstream impact because then I'd assume there would be no need to sign JMac. That would potentially give us more flexibility to trade for a big since it's one less RFA to sign.

Does this open up a Hernangomez for Tyus trade?

Taurean Prince for Patrick Beverley would be fun for a year. Minnesota hasn't had a tone setter in years.

Are we sure that Tyus Jones is any good at this stage in his career? It doesn't appear that way to me. I think I'd rather have Jordan McLaughlin for the minimum.

Depends what we mean by "good."

Tyus Jones has been a "plus" player for five straight seasons. The rub is that he's just "decent/good" at best. At this point, it's fair to assume he'll remain an undersized PG with limited scoring ability who can move the ball and keep things afloat for 2nd units for 17 - 20 mpg. Nothing more.

Is that worth $7.5M for a mediocre team? Dunno. Don't know what else the Wolves have planned at this point. And like others noted, if McLaughlin can be signed for $5M+ less... is he the better value despite not being quite as good?

Tyus Jones has a vastly superior "net rating" than our $30 million PG. I wouldn't complain if the Wolves picked up Tyus.

I was thinking this same trade earlier today. The Wolves really need some sand paper.

But I'm not so sure Memphis would want Prince.

I agree and love the idea of swapping Prince for Beverly. But i fear Abe is right about Memphis not wanting Prince.

Perhaps, but Prince is a wing with size that is a good shooter. The Grizzlies are also thin at the wing. Both players are on expiring deals. While a deal may never transpire, it's not too far off in terms of value for each team. The question to me is who else is calling Memphis for a point guard? They now have Ja Morant, Tyus Jones, Rajon Rondo, and the aforementioned Beverley. Those are all established players that will not tolerate being buried on the bench so something has to give. Whether Minnesota gets involved or not is a different story.
