DLO
With the addition of an assistant GM and a coach with direct ties to Russel, coupled with Towns being his best friend and openly showing his support for him - is Rosa's first big splash going to be a trade for a new young all-star PG?
I am curious how they are going to pull it off, we need to move Teague (19 Mil), but we could also shed Gorgi (15 mil) and Wiggins (25 mil...sigh). I have read DLO is looking at between 20 and 25 Mil a year.
BK would want to move him for sure if they get Kyrie - so maybe we will be able to move Wiggins for him? They wont want Teague but he has some trade value at least, even at 19 Mil elsewhere.
Any other ideas on how Rosa may pull this off?
I know many are leery of him but it is not often we have young talent that wants to come here. I was very against the idea of him coming over but he is another year older and had what I would consider a breakout year last year. He would look great with Towns and is a massive upgrade at PG.

Re: DLO
It wouldn't be my first move, but I wouldn't complain. I also doubt it does happen.
Most of this situation is contingent on if the Nets get a commitment from Kyrie and another max player.
If that happens, then they 100% will not match a DLO offer. If he is deadset on coming to MN only, then BKN can sign and trade to us for peanuts, like 2nd rounders or simply let him go.
But we have to shed salary either way, either in a 3 team deal in a S & T or a separate deal to sign him.

Re: DLO
Is this actually shaping up? It seems like it is all more than coincidence that our name is in the mix for this guy. If we start off the Rosas tenure by obtaining one of the top 10 free agents available I'd say Rosas is already the best POBO the Wolves have had.
Re: DLO
If the Nets sign Irving as predicted then I could see a sign and trade potentially working between us.
Teague, Saric and a future 2nd round pick for Russel (signed for 4 year 96 mil deal). Seems fair for both team. Teague is expiring deal offering them cap relief the following year and Saric gives them their starting PF next to Jarret Allen.

Re: DLO
The deal is already done, D'Angelo Russell will be a timber wolf at the start of next season
Re: DLO
Multiple reports have Kyrie leaning towards the Nets. Then the Nets make a move to clear additional cap space. They didn't need to do that deal to clear space for Kyrie, so it was obviously done to ensure cap space for two elite veteran free agents.
I think the Nets' front office already established itself as a smart one before this season. So we should assume that the Net's made this cap-clearing deal based on good information that they'd at least have a very good chance and landing two elite free agents. And there are enough credible reports about Kyrie leaning towards the Nets to believe it's probably true.
So yes, I would say that the Nets don't expect to keep Russell. The question is whether the Wolves will pursue him and, if so, whether they have a good shot at getting him. I'm inclined to believe the report that the Wolves will pursue him. I just don't see a story like being conjured by a headline-seeking reporter because that news isn't really headline worthy. As for the Wolves chances of getting him, normally I'd say the Wolves would have no chance. But I think the Wolves have a decent shot at getting him through a sign-and-trade. Gupta is known for putting together impressive deals. And in the broader context, hiring Pablo and KAT's friendship with Russell can't be dismissed as irrelevant. If Russell wants to come to the Wolves and makes that knows to the Nets, I think there's a good chance it will happen for the following reasons:
1. It's better for the Nets to get something in a trade than to just let Russell walk as a free agent.
2. The Nets would likely prefer seeing Russell go to a team in the West.
3. If Russell's agent expresses a strong desire to play for the Wolves, the Nets' front office will have a strong incentive to honor that wish for sake of long-term agent and player relations.
If they see something in Wiggins, then that would be the deal. But I think a deal build around Teague and Saric would be more likely for the reasons already give - Teague's contract provides salary relieve next season and Saric would give them both a talented PF to pair with Allen and salary flexibility if he doesn't pan out for them because of his contract. We shouldn't have to give up much more than than -- other then perhaps a couple 2nd round picks - including the one we got from the Sixers in the Butler deal.

Re: DLO
Rethinking the deal built around Teague and Saric. That deal would not leave enough cap room for the Nets to sign to top free agents. I still think the Nets intent to sign Kyrie and let Russell go. But this latest cap-clearing move had to be for the purpose of clearing space to 2 top free agents. So I'm not sure how the Wolves get Russell.

Re: DLO
Why would the Nets want Teague if they are getting Kyrie? Those 2 can't play together. If they want two guys this summer they need flexibility to do that and role players to go around that. Teague doesn't fit either group if Kyrie is one of those two. I'm not seeing how we get DLO unless we can dump other guys in preparation for the trade since we're the team capped out.

Re: DLO
Nets just need to renounce dlo to make max space for 2. They aren't going to take on extra salary.

Yes the Nets won't want Teague back. This is how it would work. The Wolves send an asset (in this scenario it's Saric) to a third team or in a separate trade to have them take on Teague and the Nets get a 2nd round pick or something small for doing the sign and trade. The nets just basically paid about a first round pick to dump Crabbe and a healthy Teague is a guy that at worst is a playoff rotation guy. Maybe all it would take is a couple 2nd rounders to move him. I keep hearing reports the Suns want to like be good and want a veteran guard to propel them forward so maybe Teague would interest them if they got something back for him being overpaid.
The next question is if the sign and trade came to be is how much is Russell going to get? It may be worth remembering he got cited with marijuana possession last month at the airport. Maybe that brings the number down a bit. Personally I would like to stay as close to 20 million per year as possible. If it inches up to like 23 ok fine but I don't think they should max the guy out. I believe in his talent but I think it's risky to believe that much. Rosas and others will have A LOT more info than I do so I'll have to trust them.
This trade is too complex and hypothetical but it's an example of how various teams could accomplish something.
Cavs trade Delly 9 million
Suns trade Tyler Johnson 2nd round pick maybe
Wolves trade Teague 19 million and 2nd round picks.
Cavs receive Tyler Johnson 2nd round picks
Suns receive Delly and Teague
Wolves get cap space.
Cavs take on a guy for about 10 million more but get 2nd rounders and also a little younger guy that might be worth something if they can rebuild his value kinda like they did with Burks last year.
Suns basically end up with an upgrade at PG for less than 10 million difference and they get a vet backup PG also. Damn I'm a genius. Lol
Wolves cap space or a trade exception basically the flexibility to sign and trade for Russell.
I suppose you could just roll the Nets into this deal with a sign and trade of Russell for some 2nd rounders. Gonna be a fun offseason and maybe the Wolves will actually be sorta involved? Neat!! Lol
