The Knicks

Post by crazy-canuck [enjin:18955461] »

They had the most cap space or at least one of the most, yet spent it all in less than 20 hours.

Julius Randle
Bobby Portis
Taj Gibson
Reggie Bullock
Wayne Ellington
Elfid Payton

Not one trade to eat capspace for picks or young player. No real visible plan unless it was to open up capspace again in 2 years.

And they didnt want to max out Durant for various reasons while shipping out zinger the year before he was able to get a max deal.

Just to give cheer up the forum.

Wowzers. We're running out of teams though that make us feel better. Sacramento and Brooklyn used to be on the list, but no longer.....Charlotte may be? Orlando perhaps?

Knicks are in one of the biggest markets, yet cant attract any free agent without overpaying.

Location is important, but ownership and organization is more important. Hopefully, Rosas can bring some stability on that end for us.

List of NBA organizations worse than the Wolves:

1. Knicks
2. Hornets
3. Lakers - they're just luck to have the LA thing working for them
4. Suns - It's pretty close.

That's it. 5th worst in the League. Now let's see if Rosas can improve upon that. :)

Now do a list of the worst owners in the NBA and see if there is any overlap.

To be fair to the knicks, portis, taj, bullock and ellingon deals all have a team option for next season. So they are being signed as assets that can be traded mid season if a player becomes available or next offseason. They could also be cut if the knicks want to try in free agency again.

the 2020 free agent class sucks. That's why these guys are getting 2 year deals.

While overwhelmingly inept since Senior Buss died... the organization hasn't been terrible long enough to break through that list.

And the LA angle, as you note, will continue to save them in the end. So they have a much much much longer leash...

I think we're #1 Lip. Doesn't it feel great to be in the top 5 of something either way.

The Heat owe all their 2nd rounders for the next 4 years plus years depending on what three 2nd rounders they sent out to get #32. They did get a 2nd rounder from Denver for the Bol Bol pick.

And check this out.

https://twitter.com/albertnahmad/status/1146050929130708994?s=21

Heat now owes first-round picks to Clippers in 2021 (unprotected) and 2023 (lottery protected through 2025, unprotected in 2026). As a result, for at least the next 4 years, they won't be able to trade a future first-round pick unconditionally until 2028. That's 9 years from now!
