Re: DLO
There is no one model or rule of building a championship contender, therefore, there is no exception to any rule either. You can build through the draft, trade, or free agency, but the fact of the matter is that somehow you have to accumulate the talent to win and the coaching to develop and guide that talent. Right now, we could easily argue that the Wolves are at the bottom of the league in both aspects.
So, yeah, sign me up for a 23-year old All-Star point guard who has a modern game and fits in perfectly with the only true "untradeable" player on the roster. I'll take those two guys and do my best to build around them with whatever remaining assets I have left.

Cam - I still think the draft model is more effective and sustainable. However, I won't belabor that point because I otherwise agree with you 100%. As you put it, it's ultimately about accumulating talent to win and the coaching to develop and guide that talent. And I've always recognized there are multiple ways to to that. It can't be described any more clearly and succinctly than the way you put it. I also agree, sadly, that the Wolves are at least arguably near the bottom in both aspects.
The only thing I'll add is that the talent you accumulate needs to be relatively close in age (similar vintage) so your core talent (not the entire team) develops and peaks at relatively the same time - especially if your goal is sustainability. In that regard, I always thought the Chris Paul acquisition by Houston was a bad one. That's why I won't complain if the Wolves give up assets to get D. Russell, in spite of my misgivings about him. He's an allstar caliber talent who, at age 23, syncs up perfectly with the 23-year old Towns. Unlike Butler, D. Russell is the right vintage talent to pair with Towns as part of a core intended to become a championship contender.

Getting good picks dont mean squat if you cant develop them unless you get one of those once in a lifetime guys.
Developing young taken, also gets you talent in trades.
Build through the draft and develop those pieces. Without that teams arent going anywhere regardless of where they are located.
Absolutely right about the importance of development.

Apparently the suns are out and indy is after Rubio.
With Culver drafted, would anyone attach okogie to unload Teague? With okogie and Teague salaries out, we could offer dlo 4/80.

I likely wouldn't attach Okogie with Teague, but I might pair Teague with a future protected first * IF * it meant being able to get Russell to Minnesota. We'd really be back in business as far as having a good young nucleus within the same timeline of each other.

Well Teague's contract is expiring, so a team like NY would be interested in him if they miss out on all the big names - this way they can unload him next year as cap space. He won't win them a bunch of games but he will be a good role model to the young pieces they have and make sure they hit the salary floor
Wiggins - his salary matches Whitesides in Mia (who missed the playoffs and have a really old roster) who has been demanding a trade. He is serviceable but has some head issues but he might just be a good trade partner. Mia is exactly the kind of place that may think they can fix Wiggins.
Gorgui - not sure how we can move him.
