Is LaVine better than KAT and Wiggins combined?

Post by Wolvesfan21 »

Chicago led by it's best player LaVine is 12-20.

Wolves are a meager 10-19 on the year.

Would you say we should have kept the superstar LaVine?

No.

The bulls have a fantastic defense. Carter is doing an excellent job of anchoring that group.

Im assuming this is sort of directed at me.

Once again I don't think you are understanding my point. Of course you need teammates to make your team better. But once again Lavine has never been on a team that has not lost 50 games and combine that with the fact that 5 of the 6 season Lavine has played his team has been better when he is off the court. Including this year where the Bulls are 3.7 pts better per 100 possessions when Lavine sits on the bench compared to when he is playing.

Now you can say that maybe his temates are solid off the bench and other factors could play into this but when you put in consideration from Lavine last year with the Wolves to now. Lavine's teams are 53-103 (.339) When Zach plays and 39-73 (.348) when he sits for injury. His teams legit have a better winning % when he dosen't play, albeit it is by a small % you would think that # would go way down if he actually made an impact to winning.

While for Towns the Wolves are significantly better when he plays compared to when he sits. In all 5 of Kats seasons they are positive when he is in the game and his worst season was his rookie year +5.9 what was in the 90th percentile of the NBA. The Wolves are 3-9 (.333) when Kat hasn't played in the NBA while 150-196 (.434) when Kat plays.

Now with Wiggins every single year he has been positive when he is on the court compared to off the court. With a career worse last year of .8 pts better when he was on the court compared to off what was in the 57th percentile. The Wolves are 4-7 (.363) when Wiggins doesn't play in his career and 163-262 (.384) when Wiggins does play.

Once again Im not saying Kat and Wiggins are the answer, escpecially Wiggins. But their teams have been better when they are on the court unlike Lavine. Their teams legit get better when he is on the bench or does not play. The only high volume player that has as bad of on/off stuff as Lavine is Dlo but with DLo there is at least an outlier season where he was the leading scorer on a playoff team. Lavine has never lead his team to 33 wins.

In the end Lavine might get better, might become a solid 6th man and maybe for once contribute to winning basketball. But at this point of their career that is not the case. Lavine isn't the answer for any team, he is a losing basketball player. We are 6 years through his NBA career and when he plays his team is worse for it and add on the possible toxic behavior he has to coaches in getting Hoiberg fired and having multiple public blow outs with his now head coach Boylen. I can't see how anyone can say Lavine is not just a guy who puts up big numbers on losing teams and doesn't help winning one bit.
