The Best Looking Jump Shot

A lot of players don't shoot a true jump shot anymore, but I'm curious who you would say has the prettiest looking jumper.

My favorite of all time (dating myself) was a guard by the name of Geoff Petrie. It was nearly perfect in terms of elevation, technique, and form.

Don't consider this a question about efficiency. Steph Curry would be an easy answer that way. But rather who has the best looking classic jump shot. In today's game I would say that Jrue Holiday has the best looking shot I can recall.

Klay Thompson has the purest jumper I've ever seen, specifically his release. The guide hand never gets in the way. He always gets perfect rotation. He's balanced. He's squared up. It's visually pleasing to watch.

Decent choice Cam. I would say his only flaw is the elevation he gets at the release point.

Ha. I'm not a gamer. But I have NBA2K in the house and was dinking around on there recently... when I found an area where you can create a player and choose his jump shot.

I never really did play the actual game all that much... but I spent WAY TOO MUCH time cycling through all the famous jump shots in NBA history.

Pretty or not... I tended to gravitate to the jumpers from some of my favorite players over the years. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I actually thought this was a pretty picture at one time...

My favorite was Glen Rice. High release, nice arc, soft touch, and silky smooth. Nice topic Cool.

Ricky Rubio is the obvious choice. The way his shot gets zero arc is beautiful as it clanks off the back iron. Nobody in NBA history has had a flatter shot with worse results. You have to admire the elevation he gets as you could barely slide a piece of paper under his feet. Just a work of art if I do say so myself. :)

That's a good one. It also brought to mind Ray Allen. Allen would always land in the same spot he took off from. Many shooters float forward while in the air. Ray also got excellent height at release.

Oh. It's ugly alright. Even his free throws are flat and ugly and seemingly just aimed at the rim.

It's shocking to me that he's a career 84.% foul shooter with such a flat shot... and such horrendous numbers shooting that way everyplace else.
