We knew that Embiid wouldn't play both halves of the back to back this weekend cominf back from an injury, but why the hell would Rivers decide to play him against us and rest him against Memphis? Philly is in a tight battle for the number 1 seed, which may become much more valuable in the playoffs as fans begin returning to the arenas. I would argue they had a good chance of beating both us and Memphis if they rest Embiid against us and play him against Memphis, But Rivers decided to do it the other way. Rivers knew the Wolves were missing their top three guards (and subsequently lost Nowell too) and weren't likely to win a game on the road. and if Embiid is in the starting lineup against Memphis, Valenciunas is less likely to feast on an undersized Philly starting lineup with a +27 in just 26 minutes.
If the Sixers end up one game out of first place, you can look at this Rivers' decision as a huge blunder.

I didn't read most of this thread either, though I'm going to disagree with Pork in KAT being called a generational can't miss player at the time of that draft. I recall being in on KAT well before most of the "experts" to the point where one of my buddies was sarcastically telling me I must know better than the experts if I think he's better than Tim Duncan 2.0, Jahlil Okafor. Even Flip wasn't sold on KAT until later in the process.
I recall that draft pretty crystal clearly. KAT had a great skill set, while Okafor was supposed to be Duncan Jr. D'Angelo Russell was also on that tier at the draft time. I also recall that Kristaps Porzi??is was thought of by some of the experts as the guy who might end up the best player in the draft once he gets acclimated to the NBA game.
Now back to KAT, I was absolutely sold on him and in the end, most people thought he should be the #1 player taken, and though it wasn't thought of as a low talent draft, at no point was KAT thought of as an Anthony Davis level prospect. THAT is a generational type talent staring people in the face at #1, same with LeBron. KAT was always thought of as a half-tier-full tier down from that...and it's played out that he's on that 2nd-3rd level caliber all-star to this point.
I really hope the wolves can build around Kat. I mean Kat 2nd best player he has consistently played with this year is Beasley. Beasley was 8th in minutes for the Jokic lead nuggets last year. Just think of that.
Tobias Harris who lit the Wolves up and was the difference last night would be the 2nd best player Kat has ever played with. While Harris is the 3rd best player on his team. obias Harris who lit the Wolves up and was the difference last night would be the 2nd best player Kat has ever played with. While Harris is the 3rd best player on his team.
Kat had Wiggins though out his career. Two future HOFers in Curry and Green are struggling to hold on to the 10th seed in the west with Wiggins playing a key role.
Kats most common lineup this year: Rubio- Who has been replaced on his last 3 teams and is a bottom 3rd NBA starting PG. Beasley- 8th in minutes on the nuggets last year, Edwards- 5th worst in the whole NBA in VORP (Value Over Replacement Player), Vandy- Not in the rotation last year for the nuggets
I will rip Kat a decent amount, he is a terrible screener, has been a sub par defender during his career (has been significantly better this year), gets into foul trouble and sometimes let's his emotions win but damn he has played with shit throughout his career and the one season he played with solid NBA players they won games and that is with a team with terrible team chemistry and a toxic culture (stuff Jimmy said was correct) but when you have legit NBA talent around Kat the Wolves will win games. The Wolves have failed Kat 5 of his 6 seasons
Kek summarizes in one paragraph exactly why we can't expect to win games with this roster...at least not yet. Harris was great sunday, and is great...but yeah, he's the third best player on the Sixers, and would clearly be the second best player KAT has ever played with. Our roster has potential with some interesting young pieces, but nobody who has shown they can be that reliable second or third complement to KAT. Rosas brought DLO in to be a 1-2 punch with KAT, but he has been light years from that with his matador defense. JMcD has been our second best player, but he's a skinny 20-year-old rookie...his day will come, but not yet. The faint hope of this franchise is that DLO can come back from injury as a changed player and be a force at both ends of the court, and be a true effective sidekick to KAT. If this doesn't happen, and we see little chance of improvement by the end of the season, I see no alternative other than moving either or both of our max players and starting over in an attempt to build a roster that can have a guy like Tobias as our third wheel.

I've actually started watching Wolves games in reverse. They always end up with a tie that way. It's the only way I can stomach investing anymore time into this Franchise.

Brillant! I heard they are letting 3000 people into Wolves games. I am thinking they might have trouble drawing that many fans at this point.

Ha, fair conclusion, bleed! I'm going tonight, and I think there are enough deprived basketball junkies here to "sell out" the rest of the season. Fans want to see Ant and Jaden for the first time live, and there's still some KAT/dlo pairing intrigue. It'll fade fast if they keep losing, but at least there's pent up demand right now. We're all gluttons for punishment!
