Jose Berrios is struggling even on 6 days rest. Not having Michael Pineda we might have to carry more arms to have a shot and deploy opener type scenario in playoffs. Would we consider going with 12 or 13 arms in a playoff series? If so Astudillo makes a lot of sense. Castro is batting ..156 over last 28 days with 1 RBI and .198 with 5 RBIs in the second half. He is really the only automatic out in the Twins lineup at this time.

Those stats don't tell the whole story. .326 OBP in the 2nd half. He has 14 walks in 87 plate appearances.

The Ryan Lamarre era has returned and now Kepler is banged up. LaMonte Wade is walking like crazy. Is he an option for the playoff roster if guys aren't healthy? What's the scouting report on him defensively? Who is this Ian Miller guy? I'm getting nervous for the rest of the year I'm worried Buxton isn't going to be able to swing a bat in the playoffs.

It was a weekend full of bad news on and off the diamond.

We lose 2 of 3. Then Pineda gets suspended. Buxton goes to California to see a specialist. Kepler is hurting. Cruz and Sano miss time.

I get to give him credit for trying to play through a torn labrum. Also we're okay we have Mike Piazza 2.0 on our team. Not quite prime Berrios with swings and misses tonight, but a lot of weak contact. Very good outing hopefully this is a step in the right direction because we need him to be right.

Garver is crushing balls.

Today I saw lots of chatter on Twitter fans saying we should dump Buxton for pitching and dogging the guy for being made out of glass or not knowing how to play to not get hurt. I get the frustration but based on what the Twins people have said publically they have been all in on Buxton and I support that fully. Buxton can make a pitching staff better playing in the field nearly every day and it looks like he can actually hit too. Maybe he can't stay healthy and playing half a season will be what you get from him for the next few years. There is no guarantee that the pitcher you theoretically get for him doesn't blow his arm out or flat out sucks or is mediocre. I'm in for betting on Buxton's talent at this point. It actually feels more real than ever before. Like Jester said Buxton isn't some wuss either. I think he wanted to play the end of last year and the Twins has to pull the plug on him because he wasn't really healthy. Sure there was probably a little more to it than that but I personally think he was out there playing when he shouldn't have. I don't deny his toughness or desire.

Even as the president of the Jake Cave fan club it feels weird to be saying we need that guy to be healthy and hopefully still swinging a hot bat...when he is healthy he is gonna be playing quite a bit including the playoffs.

That is crazy talk about Buxton. It is a concern though. When do we need to offer him a big contract?

So which of your Jake Cave jersey's do you find yourself wearing the most?

Buxton still has 3 years of arbitration. I know Wolfson has reported the Twins have offered Buxton a long term deal multiple times. I actually feel pretty confident in his reporting about the Twins and it makes sense. The numbers haven't been high enough for Buxton to say yes yet.

I don't have a Cave jersey. It's always fun going to the MN or Iowa state fair and seeing people with moderately obscure jerseys. At the Iowa state fair this year I saw a kid wearing a Sam Bradford Vikings jersey. I have a Harvin #12 jersey that needs some tape to put Beebe's Name on it. Lol
