There are 3 guys that are bad contracts on this team in that they are getting more money than they deserve based on their production and impact on the floor.
Teague 19 million and 1 year left
Dieng 2 years 33 Million
Wiggins...
As Dane Moore responded to some questions on his podcast if you want to move one of these guys start looking around the league at other bad contracts and see what you could take back for one of these guys. Teague obviously is the easiest to move. Dieng...nobody is gonna want him and Wiggins is going take a pretty creative deal to happen.
It seems like from what we see of him on the floor and reporting that Teague isn't really thrilled to be here. He also said recently that he has never missed this many games or played hurt this many games. IT must be pretty frustrating how this year played out for him. Its interesting to think about moving him jut to save a few dollars to allow us to sign or resign some other players. Here are some ideas in no particular order.
Assuming Kemba leaves the Hornets and they want a vet PG to stay somewhat competitive Teague 19 million for Biyambo 17 million and a 2nd round pick. Not exciting but gives us a bit more money and a 2nd rounder.
Magic trade Mosgov 16.7 million for Teague 19 million. Magic have Fultz but getting a vet PG like Teague for basically less than 3 million bucks? sounds like a good deal. Wolves only save that money.
Suns trade Tyler Johnson 19.45 million for Teague. Wolves get a guy that is more of a volume 3 point shooter and probably a bit better defender. Johnson i also younger and could be part of the team long term as a solid bench guy...maybe.
As you can see none of these are exciting deals. Maybe the Wolves could get something a bit better or in some cases tehy probably would be better off holding onto teague than some of these deals. I mostly brought these up as ideas of ways the Wolves could take on bad salary to move a player.
Other interesting landing spots for Teague.
Utah...LOL wouldn't it be funny?
Sixers...JImmy the GM?
Pacers
Ok the above spots are unlikely places Teague goes with his current 19 million in cost. What if Teague was a FA? would one of those teams or others (memphis?) be interesting in paying him 7 million or more? What if Teague opted in and took a 5 million buyout and then made more on the open market? Wolves could have 5 million in room under the lux tax. There are some creative although not really thrilling ways the Wolves could make some moves to build the roster...for maybe more beyond next season.
You can do this type or thing with Wiggins but its more complicated obviously. A year from now Dieng will be a guy you can throw in to get an overpaid vet like Teague for what is basically a low cost financially. DIeng isn't going anywhere for a while.

Re: Bad contract trades
If Teague doesn't like it here, why would he opt into that deal? He can easily get 2/20 million on the open market this summer as a bunch of cap space is available with nobody to spend it on. Hell a team like Phoenix if they don't get Ja would give him probably 30 million on the open market just to give them an actual PG.
Re: Bad contract trades
A 19million dollar expiring contract on a serviceable guard is a good contract not a bad one. We could get assets for that contract, not just a salary swap.
