Chauncey Billups?
Wolves to interview Chauncey Billups for PBO. Most Glenn Taylor thing ever if that's the hire

I disagree completely. This is the anti-Glen move. I've wanted Billups in charge since we canned Thibs. Guy is incredible smart and thinks things through. Now if only Glen would let him pick his own head coach

I like him as an analyst but I don't want another guy with no front office experiences when we are at this crucial time with Wolves. This is a legit question has a former player ever been good getting a office job with no experience. It is a legit question because I can't think of one off the top of my head but there might be plenty.

Yeah I like Chauncey better as a coach.

That's a good point. Maybe I'm too over zealous with wanting Billups. Did Elton Brand have experience beforehand? He's done a great job in my opinion

I think Billups could be a solid POBO down the road -- as in, the future -- but he is not the right man for this current job. We need someone that already has experience on the job. If we had no star and basically we're starting from scratch, then yeah, I'd be more open to the idea of Billups and letting him learn on the fly, but this is not that time.

Brand has been pretty awful to start his tenure in Philadelphia. He's basically taken a bunch of their cheap, affordable assets and just thrown them at premium level players in an all-in type effort, however, that team and its stars just aren't ready to contend yet. Not to mention he will be losing either Butler or Harris -- one of the players he gave up assets for -- in free agency this summer. He blew his load too early.
Re: Chauncey Billups?
What on earth has Billups done to suggest he'd be a good PBO?? It would be a classic Glen Taylor move to hire Billups, a guy with no NBA front office experience, no business experience and not even any NBA scouting experience. I wouldn't even hire him as GM or assistant GM because he has no track record removing suggesting he'd be a good evaluator of talent, a good cap manager or a savvy negotiator.

yeah, Elton Brand has been terrible. I could see Billups being similar. Plenty of experienced candidates that we can pick from.
Re: Chauncey Billups?
Interviewing Billups since he has interest makes sense even if he didn't have other tires to the franchise. He is well respected around the league he basically hasn't gotten a job in the front office because he has turned them down.
How qualified is he? That's a fair debate but it's an interview it seems this search has actually been legit and now it includes Billups who some media folks weren't even sure would be interested in the position. Things are going surprisingly well so far in this search.
