I think Barrett will be a solid to good pro. He can pass a bit, too.

I also think the current system doesn't do Tre Jones any favors. That team is a slog to watch. There's a lot of isolation ball. Too much.

Barrett takes a lot of 2 point shots and doesn't consistently knock down the 3. Sound familiar?

Maybe. To be fair, Wiggins averaged 1.5 apg... Barrett is at 4.1.

And he's shot about 100 more three pointers than Andrew (although less efficiently).

You make a good point. Another thing to consider is that it's a bad 3 point shooting team at just over 30% from that distance. One guy on Duke's roster that has played any significant minutes has hit over a 3rf of his 3's and he is a bench player. Meanwhile the team Tyus played on although it did have Okofor on it as well which likely helped get open looks was very good at over 38%. Basically every perimeter player was hitting their 3's at a high clip except Grayson Alllen who was just 34.6% which would be welcome on the current Duke squad.

Yeah, Barrett is much more of a "do shit" player than Wiggins. But yeah, his shot is really balky and given our track record with shooting, there is basically zero chance he gets any better on that front with us. Most likely it becomes an even bigger liability.

Barrett is more polished offensively that Wiggins was in College, his shooting form and movement with the ball is miles beyond where Wiggins was at Kansas. He may flame out too or not be able to hit a shot, but Wiggins always had question marks about his fundamental offensive skill, the allure with Wiggins was his freakish athletic ability.

So you're saying Wiggins is not the type to get the key rebound and putback to win the game?

How dare you!

I don't trust Duke players to succeed in the NBA.

If other teams copy UCF's strategy and dare him to shoot... and he can't make that shot... oh oh.

And as wonderful as he is, how patient is Coach K going to be if Tre Jones returns to school... along with the next crop of ballyhooed freshmen, possibly even a PG who can shoot? (Boogie Ellis?)

It was pretty brutal. It may have been even worse than what teams ever did to Rubio...of course Duke has a lot of talent otherwise so... But yeah. On the other hand the guy is a heck of a defender at this level. Sure he gets switched onto bigger players that will be a problem even though I think he is a little taller than Tyus. At some point in the draft if he does stay in a team likely picks him because they figure they can get another Tyus Jones with a bit more size and maybe a better player. Sure. It will be interesting to see how far that team goes. There was like 3 ways they could have maybe should have lost that game against UCF. Did you see Coach K's comment after that game? If those talented guys can't get going after that scare...

I watched the game but didn't see Coach K's post-game comment. I've watched a lot of Duke this season, including their two tournament games and their conference tournament games. Here are my take-always, which were really evidence against UCF:

1. Zion is the absolute best player in college basketball and barring injury he'll be an NBA superstar.

2. Tre Jones isn't as good as his older brother. I remember watching Tyus in college. He was every bit the defender Tre is but a better shooter and playmaker.

3. Barrett and Reddish should have yellow flags planted squarely next to their names on ever NBA team's draft board. Duke's near loss to UCF and failure to truly dominate all season in spite of Zion's presence says a lot about Barrett and Reddish. If nothing else, it tells me they both have a long way to go before I'd bank on them becoming NBA allstars much less stars. I have more confidence in Barrett than Reddish, but I'm not particularly impressed by either one. I'd definitely take Ja Morant ahead of Barrett. I'm wondering if I'd take Barrett at #3. As for Reddish, I'd have a red flag next to his name on my draft board - which means don't take.

I'm not advocating for Reddish but the one thing that stood out to me watching that game was physically he is very put together. That's gonna make some team take him in the lottery and based on what a number of people have said on this board about him...hopefully he is taken before our pick so we don't take him AND it pushes another guy down to our spot.

I agree with your observation on Reddish and I share your hope he gets taken before the Wolves pick.
