Not necessarily what YOU want... which team says no?

I have to think Thibs and co. says no even though Butler's his boy. That's just a lot to give up on our side.

Yeah, I just have a problem seeing Butler and Wiggins meshing for a variety of reasons, but the main one being ego. I get that everyone wants to win, blah, blah blah, but bringing in a Durant or even a Butler seriously compromises Wiggins as the co-alpha-dog scorer of this team along with KAT. And as someone that has spent his first two seasons on his rookie contract establishing himself as a go-to guy to suddenly be happy taking a back seat to Towns AND Butler....I just don't see it working. Letting go of LaVine in the process may relieve some pressure since he is another guy competing for shots. And certainly Butler is less prolific than Durant, yet I'm sure - no, I know - he is at a stage in his career when he wants to be THE guy.

Now on paper, that is a yummy combination, especially defensively where those two can just switch on wings and guards of all shapes and sizes.

I think it's laughable that Andrew would take a back seat to Butler. I think it would be the other way around, and Butler is the one who would have the problem.

I think that's a ton to give up from our side.

You might find it laughable, but your not Thibs.

And yeah, one way or the other, someone isn't happy which is why I think this doesn't work.

It's just that one guy is in his prime and the other still has a sharp upwards trajectory. Butler may be a better player than Drew today, but that isn't going to last very long. If the two truly can't co-exist I'd avoid forcing it.

The way I see it is 2 chances at a good player plus a guy like Bazz who could become an effective 6th man for 1 good player that still has some upside but also has had a problem starting healthy. I'd rather have faith in Lavine and the ability to pick the right guy in the draft plus get value from Bazz either on the floor or eventually in a deal than give up all that for a sure thing in Butler.

Two more negatives about getting Butler. He is going to be paid and will eliminate the opportunity to sign a max guy without giving up assets like Horford, Batum etc. Second, replacing Zach who has great chemistry with Andrew and KAT with a guy who has had some chemistry concerns with his existing club creates unneeded issues. I like our starters and I only add free agents who are not likely to significantly alter the chemistry that now exists on the team.

How much talent do you give up to find a player that isn't expected to be the 1st or second best player on the team ?

I know its been hashed a bit but i still think we need to go after cousins. Cousins and Towns together would be unbelievable. Also with thibs now on board i think it would be even better. They are both so damn competitive and i just love that. I also believe the supposed issues with cousins are way overblown. We get Cousins for two years to see if it works out. If it does we keep him. Just keep Rubio Lavine Wiggins and Towns. Anything else on the table.

Why would we do that? Dieng isn't too far off of Cousins. Silly of you to suggest upgrading a spot in our frontcourt after the 29-win season we just had. :thumb:

In all seriousness now that we actually have Thibs Cousins is more tempting. I am still against it overall because it feels risky. Besides if I am the Lings of someone wants Cousins Inam asking for a ton in return. My guess is the Kings are gonna try again to put things together and try and make it work with Cousins and the team they have at least this season but who knows. Cousins situation is an example of how talented players can become available at any time and the Wolves COULD be a team that makes a move for a player like that with the talent they have and a contract like Pek to help match salaries.
