I'm sure Tyus can get a little stronger, but he ain't getting any taller. (Again, it's not that he's super short...he's just "meh" in nearly every category physically - strength, quickness, vertical, length, speed - whereas other guys have at least one or two of those traits in spades. Patty Mills is short but super quick; Corey Joseph is slow, but big and strong; Ricky Rubio can't jump but he's fairly tall and rangy; etc.)
Anyone else surprised Jones weighs in at 186 pounds? That link to the draft report says he was at 191 and even mentions his weight loss.
Consider Michael Jordan was listed at 6'6" and 195 pounds according to basketballreference.com.
Yeah, Jones is a little more sturdy than he looks.
Keep in mind that when Jordan entered the league, it was still in the pre-lifting era where it was perfectly normal for basketball players to be slim and lithe. After getting beat up by the Bad Boys a few times, he hit the weights. Now it's normal for wings to be built like linebackers - LeBron, Wade, Harden....they just weren't that bulky back then.

This conversation reminds me of years ago I went to a Kings vs Nuggets game in Denver with some college friends. We got there super early and went down court side to see guys warm up. Mostly it was the scrubs and one of them was Mateen Cleaves. All of us were surprised how pretty much jacked that guy looked in person as a fringe NBA PG. There also some assistant coach sitting in a chair on the bench area throwing up granny shots and I think he missed 1 out of like 15 or something crazy. Fun times.
Great topic. There's just so much choice on the roster. I don't know if that's a reflection of the untapped potential that we have or a reflection of the potential for Thibs to be a difference maker.
For me, I think I'm gonna pick Rubio for the most intriguing. Will he really gel with Thibs based on defence and effort, or will he be restrained by a slower pace and attempt to reduce turnovers?
