Re: Ricky?
Wow, this is exciting! 2 good months of shooting out of a history of probably 25, and all of the sudden the light just turned on permanently? I have always been a skeptic....and still am.
What I will concede is that if by some level of divine intervention, Rubio has magically "clicked", I will become his biggest backer. He has absolutely been lights-out for this team over the past month+. If this were the norm, many of you are correct, he is an all-star caliber player. But I will also add that in order for Rubio to be the game-changer many on this board envision...he needs to do this month in and month out.....forever. His ability to "threaten" to score is a game-changer for his ability to impact the game. This is what we have seen over this stretch. Couple that with his superb disruption on defense and great passing, and he is truly a game-changing player.

I might have to start a new screen name to be able to have a more realistic Pork-o-meter rating. So if someone shows up with "Lukewarm Gust" or "Cold Wind" you know it's me.
Who was that a-hole who said once you go full pork you can never come back, what a jerk!

I think it's perfectly fair to be skeptical. I'm skeptical as well to a certain degree. But I go back to what Carlos said earlier. Those of us who have always been big fans of Rubio's game liked him as a starting PG BEFORE he started shooting better. Those of you who are Rubio-skeptics felt that the shooting issue was such a big deal, that it overshadowed all the other things he does well and therefore he needs to be traded. Hell, we had Khans on here a few weeks ago suggesting that Ty Lawson would be an upgrade. Gulp.
So even if he comes back down to earth, folks like myself still view a prominent role for him on this team. But I have always acknowledged that we're in trouble if he's our best player. He absolutely needs shooters and scorers around him.
To me the bigger issue is his backup. No matter what Rubio's individual statistics are, one thing we know is that the team generally falls off a cliff when he's not in the game. That has been a consistent trend for years now. We absolutely need a strong backup PG.

Nice
Re: Ricky?
If Rubio can shoot 42% and 36% the rest of his career as lip predicts then he will be a top 10 pg in the league. Add that I expect towns and Wiggins to be top 10 overall players in the league and Lavine to have all star potential and the solid play of dieng then we are really 2 -3 quality rotation guys away from a legit championship contender.
Lucky for us we have a likely top 5 pick this year and 18-20m of cap space to add those pieces we need. It's up to milt to make the right draft and signings.

Slow your roll everybody. He's playing out of his mind and we're still a .500 team. He has to both keep up this level of play and we have to start winning more games or frankly it doesn't matter. He can't be called elite until he starts winning us games because frankly that's what all elite players do.

Khans...the starting 5 is winning, the coach and the subs are losing. Rubio wins when he is on the floor right now. Plus he shouldn't need to be...and isn't, Westbrook, Kobe, LeBron or Jordan. One player does not guarantee playoffs.

Slow your roll, khans. The "youngblood" starting five, including Rubio, is beating opposing teams' starting fives night after night. Our bench is putrid and the head coach isn't necessarily helping things. We're still collecting losses, but again, it's not something Rubio's directly contributing to.
I think you're the only one calling him elite. I can't recall a single poster or media pundit that made that claim. Why you keep bringing it up is beyond me.

Since Lavine was inserted into the starting lineup the Wolves starters have the biggest point differential in the NBA for any starting unit including the Warriors.
