It's a new era- Spurs/Wolves GDT

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

OK, I'll take one for the team and tee up a GDT in San Antonio. San Antonio is missing their best player plus Tony Parker, starts 4 guys over 30 and a 21-year-old PG, and doesn't have many players who really scare you from beyond the arc. But they have the best coach in basketball and a winning pedigree, so the oddsmakers have them a 2 point favorite.

I think all of us are excited to watch this game, and I suspect the majority of us expect us to beat a Leonard-less Spurs team...I know I do. Let's get this season started!

I think we can keep it close. The thing about a Spurs team is they ALWAYS defend well - year after year after year. That to me is their secret sauce. Offensively, Pop flexes with the respective strengths of the players he has. But defensively, they are like a machine - doesn't matter the personnel.

In fact, the last time the Spurs were worse than 11th in defensive rating was 20 years ago. That's right. They have been a top 11 (mostly top 5) defensive team for 20 seasons. That's insane.

One thing I hope to see is a "Gordon Heyward" type injury happen to Pop when he jumps off the bench. Can not stand that bastard.

Woohoo!! We're finally here. Happy opening night everyone! Looking forward to the new players, Kat and Wigs defensive improvements, Thibs reduced screaming, and Tyus and the bench getting more minutes.

haha I bet Thibs is an absolute madman on the sidelines during away games from now on, he has to get his release somehow now that Glen ended his endearing yelling at home games

Even though I'm no longer sitting in a Korean cafe this year, I stand by what I said last year: everything will be alright and I'm not worried. True, we underachieved greatly last year and didn't come anywhere near the playoffs, but now we are set up even better to make a great run. There are a lot of questions this year of course and hopefully we don't have the bad luck the Celtics (or Vikings for that matter) have gotten. I imagine it will be a slow start at first but things will pick up as the season goes along.

Go Wolves!

When you say it'll start slow and pick up speed, were you talking about the Wolves fall in the standings? Asking for a friend.
