Batum out for season

Post by KiwiMatt »

Torn UCL in his elbow. Will likely miss entire 2017 / 18 season. Huge blow for the Hornets.

That stinks.

(of course it's an Eastern Conference playoff hopeful team impacted and not a Western Conference one).

Maybe they will look to trade for someone in the West. I know, wishful thinking.

Am I missing something? Lowe said it was 8-12 weeks.

Interesting. I think he had another injury that was supposed to hamper him early in the season. On the Dunc'd On podcast the Local media Kemper they had for their preview said he thought last year Batum was a poor defender for them which was a bit shocking. Hopefully Monk can be healthy for them and get some minutes.

Could open up playing time for Monk.

Everybody's so excited for Lonzo, DSJ, Fultz, and these other rookies (Simmons included), but nobody's been talking about Monk because he missed summer league. That dude could come out guns blazing. Course, that's what some people thought of Buddy Hield last year too. Still, Monk looks like he's got a decent chance to be a special scorer.

Man this rookie class could be really great.

Jamal Murray is another recent example of a great college shooter that struggled to find his rhythm as a rookie. Also Cam's old buddy Nik Stauskas. I wouldn't count on Monk doing much this year.....

Yep initial reports were season ending, but looks like they're saying min 8 - 12 weeks. Not like US media to jump to conclusions is it!

A fun stat Spencer Percy brought up on the Dunc'd On Podcast about Batum was last season he had the worst offensive efficiency of any player with at least 300 offensive possessions as a pick and roll ball handler.

Jeremy Lamb is a guy that now has an opportunity and Percy said that T. Graham might be a guy ready to actually play some legit minutes as a 3 and D type guy.
