But this team is a long ways from being a real factor in the West that's for sure. So anyone that took the Vegas Over (which I think was something like 46.5) is probably in trouble at this point. 38-43 wins seems about right.

My problem is that if Wiggins and KAT are only good playing in Butler's wake then they aren't good enough and they will be exposed come playoff time. They're 3rd and 4th year players who look as lost as most rookies on the defensive end.

Oh, I agree. If we do make the playoffs, Golden State, Houston, San Antonio or OKC will destroy us in 4 or 5 games. The ceiling of this squad is tied directly to the defensive improvement of Wig and KAT. If those guys can't get their act together quickly on that end of the floor, we will never contend in the Western Conference as long as they are on the squad.

Lip - KAT with Pop, really?

I think some guys are a bit too infatuated with the neighbor's grass on the other side of the fence. Again, no question in my mind that AD is more talented than KAT. But last I looked AD's team is 1-3. And that's with him actually on the court for 3 of those games. You might have noticed he's hurt again. Oh, if only AD had Wiggins and Teague instead of Cousins and Holiday. It's fair to point out KAT's poor defense and the fact that he can't carry the team. But there's no basis for assuming the team would be significantly better with AD.

But don't worry, KAT may decide to go elsewhere after next season. Butler's contract will be up at that time, so he'd likely leave if KAT goes. Then we can build around Wiggins, Teague and Patton. :)

AD has dragged that franchise to a playoff berth. KAT can't even go .500 without another real leader on the court. A Butler/AD led defense would be top 10 in the league and that's how you really rack up wins. Not just by scoring 120 a game. Also don't get so dramatic about KAT leaving. His only way out is to sign the QO and turn down 150+ million dollars. That's not happening.

I spent a bit of time looking into AD's defense after someone on a podcast suggested they think AD's defense was actually overrated before taking a step forward last year. I'm not suggesting he sucks or he wouldn't be an upgrade over Towns (low bar right?!?) but how much espcially when you worry if the guy will be in the floor to help. One breakdown talked about how good Marc Gasol was at being at the right place at the right time and being able to guard 1.5 players. That's mental and instincts. Not everyone is going to be KG who was one of the best defenders of all time.
