Naz

Post by Leado01 »

Does anyone else feel like Naz has been our second most reliable player through this point in the season (behind Beasley)?

Given how lost he was a year ago on the defensive end I just feel like Naz has made more progress in his development than any player I can recall in a Wolves uniform.

He's not a perfect player, but he can be trusted on the court, which is saying a lot with this underaged inexperienced squad.

He has been damn good. I would say he has been number 4. This is nothing to do with living up to contract.

1) Kat
2a) Dlo
2b) Beasley
4) Naz

He's been really good this year and legit looks like a starting NBA player

I like Naz and there is no question he is an NBA-caliber rotation player. From a pure performance-to-contract metric, he is awesome.

However....he is defensively challenged. I think part of his issue there is his relative youth and inexperience. Hopefully he'll get better at the defensive nuances bigs especially need to learn as time goes on. I think the other part is that the refs absolutely give him zero benefit of the doubt. May be just gaining more experience and becoming more of a veteran will help with the refs too, but they just don't give him any room for error.

And lastly, he is a little bit of a 'tweener size wise. He's more like Al Horford and therefore needs to keep getting stronger and get more leeway from the refs (like Al Horford gets) in order to battle with the bigger centers.

I think it's fair to say we're all pretty pleased with some of these later draft picks and G-league guys: McLaughlin, Nowell, Vando, Reid, McDaniels....However, we have still only won 6 games. At some point these guys need to start making enough of a difference to help get us some more wins.
