Kofi Cockburn

Post by Leado01 »

I'm pretty sure the Wolves will make a few minor moves here towards the trade deadline.

Given that Okogie is a likely piece with a low return, I'm wondering if we could get an early 2nd for him? Davis and Culver are likely also on the block (I'd like to keep Culver)

I'm also wondering what the group thinks of Cockburn? I've seen him dominate and disappear, but he has the body and motor to be another competent big and given KAT's propensity for injuries and the lack of a future for Ed Davis I could see Cockburn fitting in.

I like Cockburn, lead, but he does tend to disappear sometimes...he was a non-factor against Iowa a couple weeks ago. I would take a look at him if we had a second round pick though.

I just don't think anyone is going to give up a second round pick for JO though. It almost seemed like the Wolves were trying to showcase him with his starts the past few weeks and our glut of wings, but he hasn't shown enough on either end of the court to draw any attention. Most of us don't think he is even a rotation player on a 7-20 team, so I don't know who would give up a draft pick for him. I think Josh will be with us until the end of his contract.

I agree that we won't get any meaningful return for Okogie at this point, although he shot the ball well tonight.

DLO's extended absence is an opportunity to showcase Ricky for a possible trade. He's clearly playing better and I think he'll improve further back in his familiar starting role. Depending on the injury situation around the League, there might be a contending team that would give up decent value to get Ricky for the stretch run. That's a deal the Wolves should be looking for. The reality is that the Wolves won't trade DLO and the DLO-Ricky combination just doesn't work. I could see a team giving up a 2nd round pick for Ricky. Ed Davis might land us a low second round pick.

The only players I wouldn't consider trading at this point are KAT, Beasley, Edwards and McDaniels. But I don't see us getting an adequate return for any of our other players. I wouldn't trade Nowell, Vando, Culver, Naz Reid or JMac for a second round pick because I think it's unlikely we'd get anyone as good as any of those guys in the second round.
