I'm still on Wolves TV blackout until March, but I have to agree with the consensus here that Ryan's unfounded belief in Okogie may have cost us the game. Maybe Ryan saw something live that I'm not seeing in the box score, but I don't know what it was. I get why he might think a skinny 20-year-old who was underwhelming in his one year in college isn't ready to play a major role on an NBA team, but MacDaniels seems to consistently bring more to the table than Josh. I don't understand why Ryan gave 26 minutes to JO last night.

I don't know how our offense looked last night, but 16 assists against only 4 TOs from our PGs certainly looks good in the box score. Beasley, Nowell and J-Mac had uncharacteristic poor shooting nights (9 for 31 combined), and that combined with the shooting-impaired JO going 4-14, it was going to be difficult to win last night. It sure seems that if Ryan limits JO's minutes in favor of our young PFs and at least one of the guys who shot poorly last night had an average night, we win last night.

Nice to have KAT back and to have the luxury of a guy like Reid off the bench. Ryan even played them together for three minutes...a sign of things to come?

Yep agree. KAT has played for three different coaches and with several different PGs, but one thing is constant...he's been a consistent 16 shots a game guy his entire career. Much of this is because of Q's point that wings simply get a lot more shots in the NBA than centers...heck, Embiid only averages 17 shots per game. But I do think there are some things KAT can do to earn more shots.

Wolves were up 56 - 47. Towns did not shoot for the first 4:56 of the quarter and more importantly, barely saw the ball except for quick handoffs facing away from the hoop 24 feet away.

- Okogie missed three
- Okogie shot blocked
- Okogie missed shot
- Beasley missed three pointer
- Okogie missed three pointer
- Beasley missed runner
- Edwards missed three pointer
- Beasley missed three pointer
- Towns touches ball, scores
- Okogie missed shot
- Towns touches ball, hits three pointer

A couple of things:

1. Almost all of those were on isos.
2. Meanwhile, the Wolves backcourt fouled 5 times in the first 4 minutes. The Clippers were 7 - 7 from the line in the first 5+ minutes of the 3rd quarter.

That's BAD basketball. And the difference between a Finals contender and the worst team in the league.

Yep. I have little problem with the three misses by Beas and Ant before KAT touched the ball, but JO getting three shots is inexcusable. Jon K says they were doubling KAT front and back and not guarding Josh, so of course his shot is going to be there. The problem is he can't make them. This is on Ryan...JO simply can't be in the rotation if we want KAT to get shots.

I get the frustration with Okogie and with Saunders for playing him.

But in a way, the other shots could have been even worse. They were "get mine" shots, which is a big worry of mine on a team with Russell, Beasley and Edwards sharing the court with the most efficient offensive big man in the game.

At least Okogie was taking wide open jumpers. Those translate to success for other players. But when he was driving wildly into traffic because he was afraid to shoot outside... or the other guys were firing up contested shots out of the flow... yuck.

Feed the big guy. Please. At least run the offense through him. He's a plus passer.

I know you are "wintering" in warmer climes FNG, so surely you can spend a little extra to subscribe to NBA League Pass broadband, no? I'm out east in the Philly area and get the single team package. Been doing it for years. The only games blacked out (but still later available for viewing on demand) are the nationally televised ones, which is almost never an issue with our woebegone franchise.

As I mentioned earlier in the game thread, I definitely think Saunders could have done some things differently, but the Clippers are just flat out a superior team in so many ways. I love KAT, but he's absolutely a full tier below Kawhi in the impact department.

Yeah, I know. But I'm actually at someone else's apartment for the month and often busy at night (who knew you could actually go out to dinner safely outside in the south!), so I'm going to stay on hiatus until I return. Meanwhile I appreciate the color I get on the game from the GDT and some twitter feeds.
