This gave me a good laugh. You're not wrong. Imagine the team you play for trading a first-round pick for a guy to usurp your role in the rotation while he makes $17-million this year and next and you can't even lock down a multi-year deal at the minimum salary... but you're arguably a better player than him. I believe Flip Saunders tried to pry him away from Memphis and was even going to give draft compensation to "acquire" him as head coach, but the Grizzlies blocked it. A year later he was fired and hired by the Sacramento Kings.
