Wolves v Warriors part 2 GDT
Re: Wolves v Warriors part 2 GDT
The good:
-Naz was a beast
-Edwards had one of those games where you see what he could be and get excited
- Nowell came in and scored a lot
The bad
- Rubio has been pathetic
- Okogie might be the worst shooter in the NBA
- Wolves gave up a career day to another C
- The starting wolves lineup might be the worst offensive lineup in the history of the Wolves (that lineup is OK defensively)

I didn't watch the game tonight. Based on the box score and the posts in this thread, it looks like Edwards had a great game and Ricky a terrible one.
No surprise with Ricky. He's really been bad this season. It's painful to watch him. Father Time seems to have caught up with him sooner than you'd expect since he's still only 31 years old.
Glad to see Nowell finally get some court time and did well, but it's ridiculous that he's been sidelined until Culver was out with an ankle injury.

Has anyone noticed that the Jazz are 14-4 so far this season. And they're winning a lot of games in convincing fashion, including a 116-104 win over Dallas tonight. They have a very solid roster, but it isn't overly impressive. They have two all-star caliber players in Gobert and Mitchell, but neither one is superstar. They also have some other very solid players in Conley, Ingles and Bogdanovic. Note that Utah's 12-point win over Dallas tonight was without Mitchell in the lineup. The Jazz have roster talent, roster depth and terrific coaching.
The Jazz organization is a great example of how a mid to small market team can succeed. They have an excellent front office that makes good personnel decisions - acquiring and drafting good talent and assembling a balanced, effective roster. They also have an excellent head coach who gets the most out of the talent he has.
The we have our Timberwolves - a team at the opposite end of the competence spectrum from the Jazz.

Ricky has been terrible this year 100% he's been pathetically bad. Will say though roster construction kills Rubio also. The Wolves play 3 absolute 0 shooters (5 if you count Culver and Davis) in Rubio, vandy and Okogie. It was flat out embarrassing how the warriors defended okogie today. I'm not even kidding they didn't even try to guard him. He had 4 straight possessions of nobody guarding him and him clanking a 3 including an air ball. This is all coming off Okogie being statistically the worst catch and shoot 3pt shooter in the NBA last year. I think Okogie, Rubio and vandy can all bring something to winning basketball if they are the only non shooter on the floor. But the wolves play them all together what kills all their strengths.
On the Nowell thing don't get to excited he got 2 1st half minutes. Probably wasn't going to play in the 2nd half but the game got away and Nowell came in and scored 10 quick points. It pissed me off so much. I'm not even a Nowell fan it's just when the Wolves don't have Dlo and Kat the Wolves need to have a guy who is at least capable of being a threat to score. Nowell is that, but for whatever reason Nowell doesn't get meaningful run for whatever reason, eventhough in theory he fits the system

I like the Jazz a lot too. And yet we beat them on their court in one of the only games this season we have been at full strength. I'm still waiting to see what this team can do when KAT comes back. I don't think we know yet what this team can be.
I'm not putting too much stock in Wiseman's big game tonight seeing as the Wolves only had a veteran center on the court for 9 minutes. I love Naz's game and potential, but we're not going to stop many centers with KAT and Davis not on the court.

Most NBA players seem to have adjusted pretty well to this goofy season... and last season's bubble.
But I can think of three guys clearly performing at career lows... who seem to have suddenly been booted off the cliff by Father Time.
Rubio
Redick
Westbrook
All three are 10+ year professionals. And all three suck balls right now. I can see Westbrook and Redick being creatures of habit struggling with the uniqueness of playing with Covid protocols. Rubio doesn't strike me as a one of those guys who needs his same routine all the time.
Whatever it is, it's sad to see three vets... three vets with very different styles... all playing like this after being "good" as recently as a few months ago.

I hope Edwards becomes good because this was fun!

That's just ego. I don't know if everyone will like that kind of back and forth on the court, but I personally dig it. The only thing that would have made it better is if Ant had put his elbow in the rim over Draymond and then hit him with a "hell yeah!"

** Naz Reid Appreciation Post **
17 G (9 GS)
22.1 MPG
12.1 PPG (19.6 PPG PER36)
53.2 FG% (4.4 - 8.3 FG)
38.8 3P% (1.1 - 2.9 3P)
76.6 FT% (2.1 - 2.8 FT)
.634 TS%
4.8 RPG (7.8 RPG PER36)
1.2 APG (2.0 APG PER36)
1.6 BPG (2.6 BPG PER36)
Reid has gone from a highly-touted high school recruit to an overweight-yet-talented, defensive liability as an NBA prospect to an undoubtedly good undrafted free agent signing who has already shown signs of improvement where needed most -- his body and his defense. He made it clear last season that he could replace Gorgui Dieng as the backup center at a much cheaper cost and he's done exactly that. He's also been serviceable as a starter in Karl-Anthony Town's' absence -- though we obviously still miss KAT dearly.
For a 21-year old making the minimum this season AND the next several years, he might be Minnesota's best value player on the roster with Jordan McLaughlin and Jarred Vanderbilt as alternative choices.

Agreed, and the experience he's getting right now is going to hasten his development.
