One thing that would help KAT get more looks is if he could play more with his back to the basket. Hanging out at the 3 point line as much as he does has a limiting effect because he is always going to draw attention out there. He's good down on the block, and he could easily get a few more opportunities if they would just get him the ball down there.

I beg you... PLEASE don't become the next LST by mentioning how crappy Saunders is in 70% - 99% of your posts. We get it.
IF Saunders does indeed fail in the end (probable, it's just the nature of the NBA, especially with super young coaches for super lousy franchises from questionable coaching trees)... I'll be the first to remind everybody you were first on board the "Saunders Sucks" train.
Cool?
Haha. Understand, my bad. Just frustrated and I do come from the belief coaching is overrated in the NBA. Just sick of being shitty again and our best player not getting 2nd half shots. But I'll cool down on my Saunders posts
I'm with you on coaching being overrated. Obviously, good coaches are needed at some point. They can make. legit difference.
But on other things? Meh.
Great players are going to be great regardless. LeBron James has won with a bunch of different coaches... not all have been good.

I'm not going to blame Ryan on KAT's lack of 4th quarter production. He gets partial blame. Number one I blame KAT himself. If he was more aggressive in getting the ball, screening better he would get good looks. Second I blame Wiggins, not necessarily blame but KAT is deferring to Wiggins which goes a bit back to number one, Wiggins has been good in the late 4th so it's not a major issue either.. Third blame Teague who cannot pass to KAT, cannot post pass to save his own life. Fourth I blame Ryan for not calling more plays for him or possibly motivating him to be more aggressive in crunch time.
Bottom line is if KAT wanted more looks, he could do it himself. You think other big men defer and not get looks if they are superstars. Not they ask for the ball and get it done.

Agreed . . . in part. He will get more open 3 looks if we establish him in paint, then he clears on drives. He's really not helping matters be keeping his defender in the paint.

Part of the beauty of having Towns is the spacing it could provide a team.
We've all heard about the "gravity" Steph Curry puts on a team. In theory, imagine a guy who can do that by taking out the other team's biggest and best rim protector.
WOW!
That's a theory. Once we realize that teams will just swap out the big with Okogie's + KBD's + Culver's + Teague's + even Wiggins' defenders... the theory really can't be put into practice.
Again, the Wolves are entirely ill fit to run this sort of system.
SUMMARY: Expect A LOT of threads after the onslaught of trades rapidly approaching the Timberwolves...

Yeah, when he goes down to the block, it has to be with the mindset we are going to get him a touch there.

Yeah, we are getting to the point where the sum of the parts are greater than the whole. Covington especially will be highly sought after by playoff teams. Teague too, although with him it's finding an expiring to match and then throwing in a 2nd rounder. I think with Covington we may be able to extract a pretty good price, although I'd hate to see him go.
And I wouldn't be surprised if Rosas quietly tests the Wiggins market.

The rub is who comes back... and whether there's room for both Okogie and Culver considering neither projects as the type of sharpshooter to make the system work.
To build around TWO key building blocks/wings that don't seem to fit the "system" seems a bit misguided to me. And yes... I know we can bring up their potential to shoot three pointers. But that could literally be said about virtually every NBA player.
Sometimes, it's just a hollow sentiment or hope and a prayer.
[Note: I'm expecting Teague to be gone. Covington to be gone. And either Culver or Okogie to be gone... along with lesser players moved, too.]
