Re: Wolves offseason thread
I was in support of trading for Butler in the first place, but what a complete d-bag. Now he's "liking" Instagram posts suggesting Butler to the Spurs. I say we offer Butler to the Spurs for Kawhi. Even if it's a 1 year rental, Kawhi is the better overall player, and it would rid us of the negativity that is Jimmy Butler, and get rid of the tension in both organizations.
Thibs needs to be a true leader and reign this spoiled brat in...if he can't man up to do that, then Thibs needs to go too.
Suddenly I'm all for keeping both KAT AND Wiggins over Butler.

Play 80 games Jimmy and your rhetoric will be more palatable.
Exactly, Cool. If Thibs isn't the type to get involved, then that's even more reason to get rid of Thibs. He's President of Basketball Operations as well as head coach. Guess what. His position as the team's top basketball executive requires him to get involved!!

There's a reason Jimmy's teammates didn't like him in Chicago when he tried to assert himself as a leader. He clearly has absolutely no idea what it means to be a leader. He's acting like a punk -- a 65 games per season punk. As I said a month ago, we should have traded him on draft night.
Re: Wolves offseason thread
I mentioned in another thread that the bulls were divided with butler/wade vs rondo/young guys in jimmy's last season there. Jimmy also did not get along with noah/rose when jimmy was on the rise as the leader of the team and rose/noah were on the way out.
Jimmy is a self made player and he certainly have been successful doing things his way. But teamwise, he may be better suited playing with another superstar like a kyrie or on a super team. He doesnt seem to have that leadership quality that can rally a team and get along with the younger guys.
I agree with lip that jimmy is a t anplace where he needs to win now while at his peak. Kat and wiggins are still finding their way and it may take 2-3more years before they enter their prime years. With his injury history and being at the end of his prime, i can see why butler dont want to wait no more.
If the spurs will take him in a 3 team deal with kwhi going to the sixers then we should definitely consider it. Il take a risk on fultz and wilson chandler and the sixers pick/s. Its unlikely though as spurs even with the pop is nowhere near contender status like the wolves and jimmy likely bolt too unless kyrie joins him there in a year. Or we could just offer him to the sixers if the sixers dont land kawhi. They will probably just give us fultz/chandler and no draft picks or chandler/filler/draft pick/s if its jimmy going to them and not kawhi.

Theres a difference between being the teams best player and being its leader,
Being the best player doesnt automatically make you the leader.
Being the loudest doesnt automatically make you the leader.
Jimmy needs to figure it out. And hopefully he can.

Ha, so true Tim. It's having an effect on me though. Up until recently, I continued to be optimistic about this franchise because I thought Thibs would be replaced mid-season and that would both make us more watchable but also allow us to realize our potential. Now I'm concerned that there are problems that extend beyond Thibs, and will still be holding us back after his departure.
I was as excited aa anyone when Thibs brought in Butler, and predicted he would eclipse KG as the most popular Wolf ever. Then, I watched how well this team played with him on the court and watched him carry the team to 47 wins, I was more convinced than ever that he was our savior. But his social media comments this off-season are making me re-evaluate my thoughts, and move me closer to the group that wants him gone. While we all recognize Wig has occasional motor issues, Butler's comments about KAT's effort level are completely off-base. He may have deficiencies on defense, but I see no basis for questioning his heart or motor. If Butler doesn't withdraw or explain his public comments and mend the division that Jon K says is a real thing, I agree that he has to go. Very disappointing for me to conclude this, because I truly saw him as our path toward challenging for a championship.

Oh. oh.
I can see that. If it was Year 2 or Year 3 with the Butler and the young guys... ok. Enough is enough. But he played about 60 games with them.
And was ripping them for much of that time. The rumors of Butler's "poor leadership" were out there. But nobody really had a clear reading of what those were. This seems to give us an indication.

Something to consider is the type of leadership that some of the top players of the last 20 or so years have been like. They certainly were not cuddly teddy bears. This stuff with Butler is concerning but maybe it's time for some guys to man up and play their asses off for the 60 or so games like Jimmy does. The Butler hate is really almost amazing considering he is the best player this franchise has had in over a decade. Thibs and Layden need to do some work here also helping everyone get on the same page.

I'm not on Twitter, FB, Instagram, etc. What exactly did Butler say on social media?
