Twins pitchers under the age of 20

Do you guys think they bring up Buxton and Sano later this year or do they slow things down a bit and give them a full season of AA ball? I think they should take their time....

I think they both stay in the minors this year since both missed time last year due to injuries. I'd expect a promotion to AAA at some time, though. Buxton's killing it so far in RBI and leads the minors in triples. Also has his average jumping closer to .300 after a shaky start. Sano needs to continue working on his approach. Massive power, but lackadaisical pitch selection.

Also, with the Twins being "in the hunt" for the playoffs, I'd like to think we acquire a power-hitting DH within the next two months. That takes away a DH hole for a Sano.

I don't think they bring either of them up until rosters expand in September. At a minimum, Sano will be a nice power option off the bench during the stretch run and Buxton will be a terrific pinch runner and possibly defensive replacement. Give them both a whiff of the majors during a pennant race so they are ready to go next year.

Gonsalves does it again. 7 innings of 1-hit ball with 11 K's today. If he keeps this up, he'll have to be considered one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball. He's definitely looking like a very good top of the rotation starter. What a steal to get him in the 4th round.

Berrios, Gonsalves, Stewart and Gibson could be our version of what the Mets have in Harvey, Syndergaard, deGrom and Wheeler. Theirs looks to be better than ours, but ours still very good.

I expect us to have more bats then them by a long shot, however.

Good comparison, Cam...I'm loving the Mets pitching this year, and their future. Stewart is struggling, but no way I'm giving up on him...he's got a great arm. The Korean kid (Hu) is dominating and has his velocity way up from where they originally projected him, so he stands to be in the mix too. And I almost forgot about the Australian prodigy Lewis Thorpe because he is recovering from TJ...I don't think he is 19 yet and has dominated everywhere he goes.

Twins and T-Wolves fans have suffered for too long...looks like our day is coming, and pretty soon.

You guys beat me to reporting on the young guys lol. I will say Sano and Buxton both have an OPS above .820 and I believe will be called up to triple A by the end of June. The only chance of one of them getting called up is if hicks struggles. Yet I think twins are perfectly fine with hicks batting .230-.240 with great defense.

Also Vargas is just smashing the ball right now in the minors and has ops over .1000 expect him to be up soon to fill in that DH role.

Peter Gammons just gushed about Jose Berrios and Chih-Wei Hu on MLB Network. We're so loaded in the minors that it's ridiculous.

Good to hear Gammons is on board with Berrios and Hu...they're both only 21 and look ready for the majors already. I called Hu a Korean kid, but of course he is really Taiwanese. And really, really good. His ERA for his entire minors career is under 2, and he has four plus pitches that he can throw for strikes. His last start was in AAA, and he only gave up 2 hits in 6 innings. It's too bad that Meyer and Stewart are struggling, but I'm not giving up on either of them yet. I don't cheer for anyone to get hurt, but I wouldn't be unhappy if Nolasco had to miss a start or two with his ankle issue, and Tommy Milone made it impossible for Ricky to get back in the rotation. He's been lights out in AAA.

Its not a big sample so far but Hicks has cut down his SOs to a more reasonable number and still getting some walks and of course he is a SB threat as well. I see he had a walk and a SB today plus an outfield assist. Sounds good enough to me at this point if his defense keeps being good. Hopefully he finds a little more power though.
