Kevin Hanson
Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development
Kevin Hanson enters his first year as Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development with the Timberwolves. Prior to joining the Wolves, Hanson spent eight seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, the last five as assistant coach, where he was instrumental in the development of Anthony Davis.
Hanson joined the Pelicans in 2012 as the team's player development coach before being elevated to assistant coach. He joined the San Antonio Spurs in the summer of 2008 as an assistant video coordinator and was named the Spurs' player development assistant in the summer of 2010. He served as an assistant coach for the Spurs summer league teams each of his last two seasons. Hanson played four seasons at the University of San Diego and after college spent five seasons playing professionally overseas ibn Argentina and Germany.

One thing to remember about Thibs first year with Wiggins was Lavine played with the bench and then was injured so it was basically Towns and Wiggins all set up by Rubio.
Can Wiggins play with a good 3rd player? Maybe. Could having a complimentary player like Roco who can actually shoot (compared to Taj) and some other Changes in the roster and scheme make a difference? Maybe. Seems like a good problem to have even if Wiggins as a #2 on a fringe playoff type player. I'm guessing a few teams would like to have that.

I believed Wiggins could at least get back to being a mediocre efficiency volume scorer who also might not suck on defense basically raising his value from kinda sucky to moderately worthwhile. I didn't think there was much of a chance of him ever being an all star level player. The way he has started this year especially this last stretch...maybe that is on the table...we need to see more but it's been a heck of a ride. I don't think anyone cares who gets the credit or blame or whatever if this Wiggins we have seen in the first 11 games is somewhat real.

Eh, not quite. Hanson's never been a shooting coach.
Dane moore mentioned that hansen is the guy that works on shooting with the wolves.
As a development guy, i assume shooting is one of his responsibilities.

That was sort of Lowe's question...
He sees the better decision-making and how it's helped Wiggins be a better player. But he was wondering what happens if he's a guy on a 55-win team. Will it translate?

Nothing super amazing in this breakdown does have a few interesting insights from a guy that used to be on staff of the Wizards.

Well, if Wiggins is on 55-win Wolves team, I'll be dancing in the streets and popping the champagne, regardless if he struggles or thrives.
You really only need two high-usage type guys in the starting lineup. The issue with the past versions of Wiggins as a high usage guy was his mediocre scoring efficiency and passing. "Point Wiggins" was always a tantalizing prospect and worth exploring early in his career, but the results weren't that great. It's a different story this year so far.
So IF he stays the course or even comes back down to earth just a little bit, I feel like we don't need yet another player that needs the ball in his hands (e.g. DLO). Instead, we need RoCo type players - guys that can punish teams for collapsing and loading up on KAT/Wig while being able to play defense on the other side of the floor.

Q and Abe on First Avenue, circa 2021...?

Re: Where do you stand? New Man? or Same old hot steak that's over priced?
Boy Andrew Wiggins having a 10 game positive playing streak brings a lot of happiness around here. Can someone please put down someone else over basketball? This is very un-Timberwolves Message board. We've got Abe and Q talking about dancing. I think we need to up the ante, like if they ever were to win 55 that there would be a video re-creation of Abe and Q doing Mic and Bowie.

Oh yeah! May be even Jason can return to the board with all these references to the 80s.
