I was asking myself the same thing. But it's not going to happen.

Kyrie is insane to not want him as a coach.

There is some chatter that Atkinson himself didn't want to stick around and coach past this year for the Durant Kyrie show. That wouldn't exactly shock me. Meanwhile DeAndre Jordon started the next game over Jarrett Allen...

Hopefully Vaughn will be good enough to keep their playoff spot but they end up an 8th seed so the pick we get is a spot better. 20 games left and a 5 game lead on the Wizards should be enough right?

Cavs took themselves out of the Atkinson pool by getting a deal done with Bickerstaff. I like JB and he might be a good coach for the young guys but it seems like a missed opportunity for that franchise.

Maybe the Knicks will be so dysfunctional that Atkinson won't want to go there. Maybe he will take a year sabbatical.

I just heard there will be 7 coaching openings... and up to 13 openings this summer?

Atkinson is the first big name floating out there. That may very well be by design. He'll have his fair share of choices... no idea why the Wolves gig would be among the top options.

Apparently him and Dlo have a great relationship. Im not saying that makes wolves option #1 but I at least gets them a look.

I fully expect Saunders to be the coach next year

The Prigioni worked for Atkinson and the Wolves gave a couple people from the Nets organization in the front office. He even worked for the Rockets as director of player development for the Rockets for a season in 2007 so he would have even worked with Rosas and maybe others that were with Houston that are here. There are connections to Atkinson with this organization no doubt. Atkinson has been around including working as an assistant for the Knicks. Like Abe said would this even be in the top options? I fully expect Ryan Saunders to be the coach next year but would some people in the building convince Rosas Atkinson is the guy if there was any thinking Ryan wasn't the guy? Probably a bit of a hard sell to Glen Taylor but...I wouldn't completely dismiss the possibility of Atkinson as an option...but it would be a pretty big surprise if it happened.
