I think many injuries occur because the muscles or tendons have already have been put through a lot of stress, they are fatigued and need time to heal, so they are in a condition that injury is more likely. I'm stuck myself with a fucked up knee and need to be careful how hard I push it rehabbing and going forward. I need to load manage myself. Though I am not 24 years old either. Couple decades older. lol

Forgive me if I don't necessarily buy into that. I work for the union as a mason, I run my trowel thru mortar upwards of 2000 times a day and lift block , brick and stone all day long for 40 hours a week. Muscle and joint fatigue is an issue we deal with but we're able to work thru it with braces and proper stretching and joint medication. These guys have the best medical means known to man at their disposal . And all they have to do is shoot a basketball and run ( which by all accounts is good for you).I'm in my 15th year ( and another 4 as a tender which is more strenuous) and I work with guys that have been at it for 40 years and don't bat an eye.

The point is, our bodies can withstand a lot more than what most people think it can. Especially when it gets world class treatment at its disposal.

Depends I suppose on the person. Kawhi Leonard was out a year with some quad injury. Jumping and landing forces are way higher then most other physical activity as well. You are transfering 1000+ pounds of pressure when loading and landing (from what I remember from sports science, ESPN deal). That's why football players tear ACL's without contact. The tremendous forces are from how strong and quick these athletes are. These guys can squat 4-5-600 pounds. Jump 44 inches high.

As far as the injuries from KAT. Probably has nothing to do with all the minutes he played to be honest. Just bad luck really. But minutes can add up. You can't work out and play sports non stop and expect to not get injured ever.

But I have also heard from many experts that injuries are most common when you are fatigued. Your muscles are already broken down (torn) that is how muscles get bigger (hypertrophy). They tear and you feel sore. The soreness is torn muscle tissue.

He'll be done for 6 weeks at least I would think. Might as well be the rest of the season. I don't think we will see him till next year.

Should say Towns out for 2 weeks before having season ending wrist surgery. Don't understand why they are just going for natural healing for a broken bone.

The new regime's PR handling of injuries has not been strong.

Even relatively positive guys like Dane Moore and Jon K have been pretty harsh on them in there podcasts. It's kinda weird how bad they have botched this and I think it was Jon K that reported a few weeks ago that they know it hasn't gone over well. I tend to give team the benefit of the doubt on this stuff but it's hard to at this point.

I mean maybe the weirdest one to me was Napier. Hamstrings are tricky but It seemed like there was hardly any info and it doesn't seem like there is anything significant to gain by the player or team by keeping that quiet. Towns? Sure he is a star player maybe but Shabazz Napier? Weird. The layman toe thing probably was legit but again no info. Weird. Maybe Rosas BlackBerry doesn't know about Twitter or something. Lol
