First they will go after Booker.

But my projection is the wolves will trade the pick for Aaron Gordon. And he will be the wolves future 4.

I think I'd consider James Johnson and the Brooklyn first-round pick for Aaron Gordon, but not an expected top-five pick. Whether or not the Magic would take that for Gordon would depend on how badly they want to get off the remaining $34-million on his deal. They do have Jonathan Isaac ready to fully blossom.

Upon giving it more thought, I'd be surprised if Gersson Rosas didn't already make that same phone call, but it could be worth trying again closer to the draft.

Magic:
- PF Aaron Gordon = $18,136,364

Wolves:
- PF J. Johnson (PO) = $16,047,100
- SG J. Evans = $2,017,320
- 2020 first-round pick via Brooklyn Nets

Yeah, not sure Gordon is worth a lottery pick, even in this weak draft. He also seems to have slipped a bit, even though he is only 24. He might be the best we can do though to help buttress the PF position.

Dane moore has a recent podcast where he and 3 other Denver writers talked about the guys that went back and forth in the trade. They had an interesting discussion about the PF position and how Millsap was the perfect guy to Play next to Jokic and how he would likely be good next to Towns also. They said they assumed Jeremi Grant was going to be stepping into that role but said he isn't as good and is a pretty terrible rebounder for the position. Everyone agreed it's difficult to find a guy like Millsap but guy like him including Draymond were not exactly top picks but turned into something.

They like Juancho but said he is likely good as an offensive guy but defense is a problem and he isn't worth paying a ton but is a great teammate and will have no problem laying a role off the bench they said he would benefit from a more consisting role evening if it was just 15 mins a game.

They said if Denver had a G-league team they would have played Vanderbuilt as a PG.

Edit: So idk if Aaron Gordon would be the right guy next to Towns or not. I'd guess the Magic would want more than the Brooklyn pick. I'd agree that depending on how high the Wolves we're picking he wouldn't be worth giving up there pick but maybe the Magic could send another asset back in a deal. Obviously the Wolves could send another younger asset to sweeten the deal if it was the Brooklyn pick. Gordon is interesting to consider anyway.

Personally, I think Aaron Gordon is worth a lottery pick... top 5? Not normally, but this is a still considered a weak draft and they might get just as good of a player with the Brooklyn pick.

He's another change of scenery guy with a questionable organization. Orlando has made a series of puzzling moves during his 6 years there. They just keep drafting athletic wings. Again and again.

And all those bigs have put Gordon at the 3 A LOT more often. Historically, he's been much better at the 4, but forced to play the 3. OR... this would be a huge red flag... did Gordon force his way to the 3?

I think he's a pretty versatile guy and a smarter team could tap into it more. He can pass with efficiency. He's young (and we love potential here!) at only 24. And by most reports, he's a capable, willing defender.

It's not a slam dunk. But neither is a random lottery pick as we well know.

Or keep the pick and put Isaac Okoro at the 4

I don't like the idea of Minnesota drafting Isaac Okoro in the top-seven. I like Okoro just fine as a prospect, but the fit isn't great. I think we already have two imperfect versions of him on the roster with Josh Okogie and Jarrett Culver. Not to mention, I think Okogie develops a reliable outside shot before Okoro does at the next level, which means I'll tend to prefer the former being on the court.

How do we know this is a weak draft when nobody has announced yet?

I think it would be unfortunate to have traded a guy we knew couldn't or wouldn't turn into a really worthwhile player in Wiggins, and turn around and fall for the same trap in Gordon.

I can't say for sure if Gordon is that player or not. Orlando's roster construction choices his entire time there has been confusing at best. I do think he could slot really well next to Towns and provide the do-stuff stats we need from our PF. He can also defend and rebound decently well, with solid court vision.

My main concern is probably cost since theyd have to pay him soon. It isn't a huge problem if he's a good fit, but if we think there's a comparable player in the draft that gives us 5 cost controlled seasons, I take that.

One reason to trade for a player like Gordon is that you would be able to pay him as opposed to free agency where we are basically going to have a pretty hard time having any meaningful money to offer a player. The question you bring up is a fair one about how much Gordon will be worth and how much we would have to pay him. Cap geeks (Both nationally and locally like Dane moore) really think the Wolves trading for Juancho and Beasley was a smart move because they don't see any teams are going to offer the big contract to Beasley and even the Denver Media guys on Moore's podcast didn't think any team was going to offer Juancho any significant money. After the trade deadline it really had a few teams that had more space used up some of it for next year.

Aaron Gordon? No thank you. He's averaged 12.7 points on less than 45% field-goal shooting and 32% accuracy behind the arc. He's averaged less than 7 rebounds, less than 1 steal and less than 1 block over his career. Maybe he has great advanced defensive stats, but I haven't checked and those stats are sometimes misleading. Meanwhile, Gordon is having perhaps his worst season statistically since his rookie year and there's no sign of an upward trajectory. This team has been a poor rebounding team even with KAT and a poor defensive team with or without KAT. I don't think Gordon would help with rebounding and I don't know how much he would help defensively. He's certainly not impressive on the offensive end. And he doesn't look like a player who improves.

What we do with our picks should ultimately depend on where we're picking and who's available when we're on the clock. But I wouldn't give up our own pick for Gordon and I'd be reluctant to deal our Brooklyn pick for him either. I'd rather keep Johnson for the last year of his deal and either keep our picks or look at trades for players no named Aaron Gordon.
