Rubio Matthews trade

Post by Phenom »

No mention of this yet?

Per Tim McMahon

The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves have broken off talks centered on a Ricky Rubio for Wesley Matthews trade.

Dallas and Minnesota would have also swapped lottery picks with the Mavericks moving ahead of the New York Knicks at No. 8 to get No. 7 with the Wolves getting No. 9.

Talks between the two teams are now dead.

Matthews has a player option for 18-19, while Rubio can become a free agent in 2019.

I assume the pick swap is what broke the trade down

I assume that's a false report coming from the Dallas camp solely.

Not a fan. Matthews doesn't make sense for us at the expense of Rubio and moving down two spots.

Spurs looking to move Green. I'm intrigued by that. Looks to be a cap shedding move. Any combo of Belly, Tyus, way future 1st, 2nds gets that done?

Lol that would make sense if they were giving us 7 and them 9. Ricky straight up for Matthews isn't equal value given Matthews injury history let alone giving them the better pick.

I've said it before, but Green is a system guy. You would not be getting the San Antonio version of Danny Green, you would be getting the Timberwolves version. And there is quite a delta between those two. Definitely big time buyer beware.

The only thing interesting about this rumor, is that the Wolves are supposedly very high on Zach Collins.
