Yuck, the Rose thing has to be made up or a typical "he played for Thibs once before" reach. I can't believe there is any real interest in him. He's a completely different (i.e. much worse) player than he was back in the day with Thibs in Chicago.

The whole reason KD could go to GS was because Steph was on a sub max and Klay and Draymond were on mini-maxes under the old CBA. Well Steph and Durant are both up this summer so they will have nothing left for free agents for pretty much until their run is over and they might even have to pick between Klay and Draymond when that time comes. That's our boat right now with Towns, Wiggins and Zach being on rookie deals. Wiggins and Zach get paid next off season which are huge increases and Towns the summer after. This is the window. 2 years. After that there is no money to sign anyone over the MLE. The cap space you are saving is just going to be redistributed to our current players so you are all in on those 3 being good enough to be a contender without a ton of help. I frankly haven't seen enough from the 3 of them playing together to be that confident those 3 will take us to the top. That means we have to use this window now to sign help and then deal with the cap implications when we have to cross that bridge because in 2 years we won't have the ability to add the help they might end up needing. I don't get putting all the eggs in one basket that involves all 3 guys needing to become all-stars for us to win.
So who are we gonna sign? It seems like most people on this board think the best player we can get is Millsap or Ibaka. That's no Durant or Bosh type guy and those guys are gonna get plenty of money and probably for 4 years unless they have opt out deals or whatever. What has been pretty amazing is how the Cavs have been able to add talent to their roster while being way over the cap. either way the Wolves go whether paying some guys this summer or holding off there can be chances to improve the roster if you make good moves, be creative and opportunistic.
Who knows? I know the strategy I would like to see us pursue though. I don't want a max or near max guy that will force us to give up on one of our Big 3 in a couple years. And I want a solid defending SF that will allow Wig to start at SG ( I love Zach off the bench for 25 minutes) and might also allow to keep the Big 3. Here are my candidates:
1) Andre Iguodola
2) CJ Miles
3) PJ Tucker
4) Joe Ingles
5) Luc Mbah a Moute (if Thibs agrees he can guard SFs).
Who knows how much these guys would cost us, but certainly less than Milsap and Ibaka. My sense is Thibs doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize his ability to keep the Big 3 down the road, and is asking Leydon to pro forma our cap/lux position assuming max's for all three. Hopefully he can add a SF like one of the guys above without going too far into the lux in three years.

I kinda forget about Ingles, but he would be an (almost) ideal candidate next to Wiggins. Defends, shoots, handles, and doesn't need to score a lot to have an impact on the game. Man, I was sleeping on him, but he would be a great addition.

Indeed. And Jamychal.

I'm with you, Q. I don't think there's anything to this. But if there is, then Thibs should be terminated immediately.

Yes, Paul Pierce states it well. Adding a ball dominant former star whose career has been derailed by injuries and will never be the player he once was makes no sense with a bunch of young guys who need to develop.

I'm not opposed to any vet, but it should be a vet that fits.

If Thibs wants Rose, I say go for it. After all, the goal is apparently to replace Rubio more than it is to build a good team who prides themselves on defense.
Either way if Ricky's on the way out, do it quickly so I can bet the under in Vegas

Paul Pierce was by far the most insightful and got real pretty quickly. Must be a slow news day they spent time talking about this. McGrady apparently (based on the way he was talking) thought it was basically a done deal. Lol

That's pretty harsh. What if Rose was willing to take backup money to be a 6th man? Yeah i don't think it would happen either but if Thibs thought he could make a pitch to that idea then it's not the dumbest thing ever. If Healthy Rose can actually play.

What are you willing to pay those guys to get them away from their teams? I like both but I worry it's gonna cost enough money Millsap and Ibaka start looking like guys we should pay and I am gonna say here and now we should not pay either of those guys (Millsap and Ibaka) big money.
