Wolves 2017 Draft Thread

The per 40 is just a way to compare similar players when there is a large difference in how many minutes they play. It's basically projecting what they did if they played an entire game in college or in international play. The per 36 used for NBA players makes more sense projecting them without comparing butbsome guys will never play those kind of minutes.

It's kinda funny the comparison of Bridges and Isaac. One player is build strong but does not have super great length. Isaac is super long but skinny. Bridges was highly productive. Isaac did ok. I think this draft has some nice players in it and picking out the right one...idk I don't think it's going to be easy. I hope Cam comes back and chimes in with some thoughts and I hope Q doesn't just check out of his thoughts on some of the higher picks because he doesn't really want the team to draft one.

It seems to me he falls under the Towns debate then. He was misused and underplayed in college so how much can be relied on to translate to the next level in your opinion? 35% from college 3, more turnovers than assists for a guy who deferred to his teammates often and 1.5 blocks per game as a 6'10 athletic big could go either way for me.

Weak handle and turnovers is the biggest weakness I can gather but I can live with that given that he projects as a very good defender and is an efficient shooter. He also is not the alpha scorer and he wouldn't need to be on our team. I prefer efficiency and his field goal and free throw percentages are both excellent and he's an excellent floor spacer and cutter. I like that he still is growing and filling out. He looks like he could play either forward position and that is where I think we need the most help.

You are correct Monster that I really have no thoughts on any of the top prospects. I have zero interest in any of them as fits for our roster. We need to stop the cycle of young lottery picks being force-fed minutes. They are a massive liability defensively and we simply can't afford having any more sieves on the floor than we already have.

The type of rookie I'm interested in is someone like Sidarius Thornwell. He can be had in the 2nd round, he's mature, he's strong, he's played for the one coach that probably yells more than Thibs, and he has some skills. He won't mind paying his dues in the D-league for a while. We need to start bringing some mental and physical toughness into the fold, even at the lowest levels of the roster. No more teenagers and snowflakes!

While I understand exactly where you are coming from, there are multiple players in this draft class I couldn't pass up. Fultz, Ball, Jackson, Tatum are some with a chance to be very special. If we get into the top 3, I'll take one of those guys and be very happy about it.

What's he gonna do when you give him millions of dollars to be a professional? He's probably the least mature of the bunch of top picks in the draft. Great talent. Dumbass kid.

Yep, totally thinking Josh Jackson. Justin is intriguing I just don't know how he didn't dominate more in his career with his height, length and touch. He basically shut Monk down with his length in the Kentucky game. He's too experienced in college to still just be showing flashes at times and not be more consistently dominant Imo.

I'll be interested to see what his measurements end up being including his weight. Getting a guy that has the length of a PF/C that is multidimensional sounds really good right now as there are a lot of guys like that right now. I'll be interested in seeing how Draft Express breaks down his college game.

I am curious why he is not being projected higher. Just comparing this class to last years shows how this class is much deeper. Dunn would have had no shot of making the lottery in this group.
