Wolves 2017 Draft Thread
Re: Wolves 2017 Draft Thread
#13 pick in the 2015 draft Devin Booker just put up 70 points tonight. Remember he wasn't even a starter in college as a freshman.

9) Minnesota Timberwolves - Lauri Markkanen, PF, Arizona
Markkanen has an elite skill as a three-point shooter and he does it at 7-feet tall. His release is quick, his stroke is beautiful, and he's proven he can combine volume (4.4 attempts per game) with efficiency (43.3 percent from deep). There are questions about his defense, but that's why his good buddy Karl-Anthony Towns is around.
This would give Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, Ricky Rubio, and Kris Dunn an ocean of space to play in. Could be fun.
13) Chicago Bulls - Robert Williams, PF, Texas A&M
The Bulls talked all summer about getting younger and more athletic, yet somehow only got older and slower. Assuming the front office is serious about adding athletes this year, they can't do better than Robert Williams. The 6'9 big man gets off the ground quicker and higher than anyone in this class. He could be an elite shot blocker and an above-the-rim finisher as a roll man.
Robert Williams is going back to school.

I heard from some sources the SP is going back to school as well. He is deciding between being a doctor, lawyer, Dr of physical therapy or elementary education. Stay tuned!!!!

I wish we had a second rounder. There are some guys that should be available there that intrigue me. Jeanne and Thornwell have some impressive measurables and good defensive stats. I'd love to roll the dice with Jeanne who has a similar body type to Rudy Gobert, superb blocking stats and is also from France.

Can Markkanen defend? I haven't done my deep dive yet, but I'm hoping we get the best two way playing forward or center available if we keep the pick.

No he can't defend. Literally all he does is shoot and be tall. I really don't get the hype for him as a prospect. I think his ceiling is Ryan Anderson which is ok, but not really something you want to get from a top 10 pick.

I'm liking what Adebayo is doing in this Carolina game. I could see him being a high energy Faried type only I think Adebayo looks more the part of a guy who can guard small ball 4's as well as regular 4's. I would put Bridges and Adebayo as the top two guys in our current projected range. Hopefully a lot of teams above us need PG's because this draft is stacked with them and we could use a wing or a big to drop to us.

I wish we had a 2nd rounder too. I think the Wolves could buy a later 2nd rounder and find a good player.
This UK UNC game has been fun with a couple unhearalded guys having nice games. Like I said in the tourney thread Bad has shown some good things but still raw.
Almost no matter what I think a good player will fall to the Wolves and if you want a wing or a big then it's VERY likely to happen.

I think we will have a lot of solid options where we pick. I routing against the Ball family at this point. Their dad makes Shabazz's dad look good. I think we will see teams go at him next year and I don't think he will be able to handle it since that shot seems slow to release and he is just not much of an athlete. Good IQ, size, and skill though.

It's not as blatant as years past but it seems that Thibs is sneaking a gentleman's tank into the fold
