That in turn means that we shouldn't spend a lot of money or assets on the position unless we are making a big-time play for someone (like Kemba). Otherwise, we should focus our resources on wings and bigs that can defend and shoot, knowing that there are a plethora of solid-ish PGs in the market to choose from.

I agree to a point, Q (pardon the pun). If KAT is playing like he normally does, Wig is shooting better than he did last night, and Taj is scoring his efficient 12 points, we just need a good enough facilitating PG...and I still think Tyus is the best of the 4 in this role. But on nights when two of our starters (Wig and Josh) are shooting like me, we need our PG to be more than "good enough". Bayless was way better than "good enough" last night, and we don't win if he doesn't have an exceptional game.

I think we can also agree that Isaiah Canaan is far from "good enough"...his minus 17 in just 13 minutes tells me we don't need to see him again on the court. Hurry back, please, at least one of our hurt PGs!

Well, I agree that Canaan falls below the "good enough" line. At that level, yes, the position hurts us more than helps. But we have 4 other guys, while each having their own strengths and weaknesses, we can seemingly plug into the position and there doesn't seem to be a big impact in results.

I just think it's a position we shouldn't get too carried away with filling this summer if Teague opts out.

Yeah, I agree. We also may have some flexibility at the trading deadline if the health reports are favorable. If healthy, we're as deep at PG as any team. If...

Every game Teague misses due to injury makes the percentage of him opting out to drop. As far as moving a PG...there just isn't much time to get a deal done with Teague injured. Jon K has reported there is mutual desire by both Rose and the organization to have this thing continue beyond this year. I have serious doubt they are going to deal Tyus so it's basically Teague. Young to trade a guy with a player option for 19 million that isn't even playing right now and has been uneven this year when he has played. Playing some of those guys together (and possible even Bayless) when they are healthy makes some sense. Plenty of other teams do it.

Q's point of going with a good enough guy and not spending big money unless it's a really good player makes a lot of sense. That means we need to find a diamond in the rough or draft a guy...or end up trading for someone down the road. We need to add talent and we need to resign Tyus to a reasonably favorable contract.

Monster, you make some good points about why a deal involving a PG is unlikely. I like your idea about playing some of them together though. Rose is really more of a SG anyway now, but Bayless' 3-point shot looks good right now and might allow Ryan to give him some minutes there too. I am way down on Josh these days (now down to 36 % shooting and under 25% on threes), so if Ryan thinks we still have a shot at the playoffs (contrary to most here :-( ), I see him limiting Okogie's minutes as our wounded return. If we fall out of the playoff hunt, I'm in favor of Josh getting some experience...otherwise, I think we will have better options.

I don't get it. We don't think this team is good enough but don't wanna see anyone go, even the nice guys.

Well, yeah...Bayless is supposed to be the second funniest guy on the roster.
