I don't think that's realistic.
Would love to hear your idea.

monster laid it out nicely...
But we've talked about Teague and Wiggins being liabilities with the money owed each of them. Why would NO give up a Top 5-esque player for two terrible contracts and two middling/bad 1st round picks?

So what you're saying is we are not a good trade partner for NO. I get that. Although i don't see Teague's contract as a liability. If traded he's probably going to opt out, which would be good for the Pels. Once they trade AD they need to do a classic rebuild anyway.

There are going to be so much better offers for AD. Just some offers that Zach Lowe thinks that the pelicans are going to receive.
Lakers: Ball/Kuzma/Ingram/1st
Celtics: Taytum/rozier and a 1st or Hayward/ brown/ Rozier/ smart/ kings pick and Grizzlies pick.
Knicks: Porzingas and an unprotected 1st (could be zion)
76ers: Butler/fultz/ heat 2021 unprotected 1st or Ben Simmons and filler.
Raptors: Siakam/OG/Valuncunics/1st
Nets: Russell/Allen/ 2 1sts
Bulls: Marrkannan/Carter/unprotected 1st
Nuggets: Murray/ Barton/Lyles and picks
Kings: Hield/Bagley and picks.
All those offers are better then we can offer that don't include Towns. We don't have good young players like the other teams do. Now maybe we can get in on Holiday or Mirotic or Randle but we are not even close to be able to acquire AD

But wouldn't it serve the Pelicans to wait until the summer when the lottery is set and the Celtics (with the biggest cache of talent + picks) can up the ante a bit more?
AbeVigodaLive wrote:Why would Teague opt out?
I don't see any team taking him on a long-term deal. So he's turning down $19M for a 3 year $36M deal or something similar?
I dunno. I'd think he could play out next year and then sign a 2 or 3 year deal at age 31 and still come out ahead. But we'll see.
