Dario was supposed to pick for Jerryd, allowing him to get into the lane to either shoot or feed KAT, but Denver foiled it and forced the Deng 3. I think most of us would have liked that play, so it was good to read it in the paper this morning...makes me feel better about Ryan going forward.

Would feel more confident if this wasn't the 7th end of the game set that our all NBA player didn't get the ball

We ran the play he called. Bayless just didn't attack the basket like he was supposed to. Dario was told to slip, not really set a screen. A slip screen get to the rim and hope KAT's defender comes off him isn't a play that makes the defense do anything if the ball handler doesn't actually get to the rim. Frankly just run an actual PnR with KAT and put guys in the corners.

I don't know if Ryan Saunders should be the coach going forward but I honestly have a hard time know what the expectations should be for him all things considered and I'm not talking about just wins and losses. One of the things that's sucked about as much as anything during his tenure is Saric struggling. That started before Ryan became the coach but it would be nice to get him going.

I agree, Kahns. If nothing else, Ryan should just drill these guys repeatedly on executing PnRs with KAT. Otherwise, get the ball to KAT out high and have him run the play. He's our best 3-point shooter and has the length to get off a 3-point shot almost anytime he wants. He actually has an explosive dribble drive game as well. And he's a good passer. The opposing team will have to bring one of their two bigs out to guard him, which can create opportunities for our wings and guards cutting to the basket.

In fairness to Ryan, he hasn't had much time to make significant changes in our offense. What we don't know is whether he actually understands what he needs to do to get the most out of this team. Having Wiggins bring the ball up full court last night, in addition to the many times he's had Wiggins run the offense to close out quarters, makes me really wonder about Ryan's basketball accuman.

The end-of-game struggles to get KAT the ball at all... not necessarily even in a favorable position... is what I've been ranting about a bit lately with Big Guys being left out in the proverbial cold a bit in the modern NBA.

It's just more difficult... than just having your star wing go get the ball at halfcourt.

Bayless driving and passing to Deng for an open corner 3 seems more palatable than Jimmy dribbling out the clock with no player movement beforehand and then jacking up a wildly contested 3. Progress??? -shrugging emoji- ;)

If you swap out Rose for Bayless I'm fine with that play because I know Rose will take his guy 1 on 1 and get to the bucket. Without Rose though that's just the wrong play call given the personnel on the floor. Without Rose we just don't have anyone who can create offense off the dribble and that will continue to plague this team moving forward even when we are healthy because neither Wiggins nor Roco are those types of players. We had the same problems back when Love was our best player and Ricky the PG. The best teams have a wing/guard they can give the ball to generate offense and we don't have an elite version of that guy that they do.

Absolutely right about the best teams generally having an elite wing/guard who can handle the ball and generate offense. I've been harping on that theme for years. Once I noticed that Wiggins was nowhere close to that type of player I knew he should be traded -- which was over two years ago.
