Kawhi wants out of SA

Wiggins for Kawhi - helps both teams. Thibs as coach is probably a deal breaker for Kawhi. Thoughts?

It would have to be more than just Wig. I think Butler gets it done straight up.

I agree that a butler for kawhi swap is more likely than wiggins and parts. Jimmy fits right in with the spurs and pop. I think the wolves should look to get involved in possible kawhi trade scenarios as a 3rd team. We can take ingram and sign and trade for randle as examples. I agree with cool's take that jimmy and the wolves trajectory just doesn't fall in line in the next few years. Its not fair to jimmy at all but it is the reality.

I'd make that trade and tell Kawhi he doesn't have to show up for he has already done enough.

I think a lot depends on where Kawhi wants to go and IF he'll sign an extension with that team, or promise to sign extension. He's only on a one year deal himself, so it's a lot like the Paul George deal last season.

It also depends on how healthy Kawhi is. So depending on how he works out and checks out with doctors will help determine his trade value. Lots of moving parts.

This just added to the offseason intrigue. Something nobody really seems to be unpacking or talking much about is that the Spurs a model franchise has a top player in this league (when healthy) that wants out. Sometimes things don't work out even for the best franchises.

One article I read as few days ago said that many people around the league don't think Pop will coach beyond the 2020. That makes sense. The guy is 69 years old now there has to be an end coming for his coaching career I don't get the sense he is planning on coaching till he dies or something.

I wouldn't be interested if the deal is Butler for Kawhi, but would for Wiggins. Even if it is for only one year. Pops may be able to get something out of Andrew.

What do Kawhi and Jimmy Butler have in common? They've both played 7 NBA seasons. And they've both played in at least 70 games in only two of those seasons. In other words, they've both terrific players, but you can't count on either one to give you more than around 67 games. I would do Butler for Kawhi because his age matches better with KAT as a duo to compete over the long haul. And you'd be getting essentially the same number of games out of Kawhi that you'd get out of Butler. I'd probably do Wiggins for Kawhi also, but it would be risky because you'd be swapping an iron man for a guy who played in just 9 games last season. Not sure where he's at physically now.

Another thing is we have very little info but it feels a little strange/worrisome that Leonard wants out of one of the best organizations in all of sports. Now there could be some good reasons for wanting out but to me there has to be a bit of a red flag there too. At the very least it's just been a fairly weird last few months with this whole thing. I think it was Woj that said yesterday he things there is still a chance he stays in San Antonio. This offseason is gonna be interesting I'm gonna sit back and enjoy the ride.

Him wanting out from my knowledge of what I've heard from different places and from my best guess has to do with the SA doctors evaluating Kawhi differently then his personal doctors. Meaning I think they may have slightly rushed him back too soon, he reaggrivates the quad and decides to blame the SA doctors, fair or not.

I think that is the most likely scenario from what I've heard. Wether he even would want to play here or for Thibs, IDK. Probably not. It's interesting to think abut though.
