I don't have a big problem with the Wolves passing on Russell Westbrook in favor of Kevin Love. Yes, Westbrook has turned out to be better and has to be considered a missed opportunity, but Love was pretty darn good for us and he won a championship with Lebron. And keep in mind that we could have ended up with OJ Mayo that year. If that had happened, we wouldn't have Wiggins. Actually, I think that draft -- trading down to get Love in exchange for Mayo -- was one of McHale's finest moments as PBO.

I also don't have a big problem with the Wolves' draft-day exchange of Ray Allen for Steph Marbury that year. Marbury was the perfect fit next to KG. The two were friends at the time and wanted to play together. As it turns out, this Wolves were leading the Western Conference when the Wolves traded Marbury away. No one could have predicted Marbury's sudden jealousy that prompted the trade. Flip told me he wanted McHale and Taylor to keep Marbury because he was convinced that winning would eventually cure Marbury's jealousy, but he was overruled.

If we're talking about the more impactful and disappointing missed opportunties I agree with Pork that the discussion should probably start with the Wolves passing on Curry in favor of Jonny Flynn. Note that we also passed on DeRozan that year. So we could have drafted Curry and DeRozan instead of Ricky and Jonny. If we apply hindsight, then both Curry and DeRozan were missed opportunities. If we go with what most of us thought at the time, then Curry remains at the top of the missed opportunties list.

Westbrook and Ray Ray are big misses however because they've been loyal to their teams. Love didn't want to do it on his own or be the guy. Westbrook embraced it. I feel like passing on those types of players in this market is just as valid of an issue.

Good point, Phenom. No doubt, I wish the Wolves had taken Allen over Marbury and Westbrook over Love.
