It's wild, but I think Thibs thinks we're good on perimeter players now. He's got Derrick Rose taking the backup SG slot with Josh Okogie available for minutes here and there. And by most reporting, the Wolves are calling on practically every cheap big available. Their focus has turned away from the wings I feel like.

I think you're right, Cam. If the Wolves re-sign Belly, then the Wolves will just be looking for a big body to replace Cole. There's no way Tolliver or Amir Johnson signs here under those circumstances. Maybe Dante would, but I still don't think so. If Belly walks, I see the Wolves signing Tolliver to provide more PF depth and simultaneously upgrade the team's 3-points shooting.

I think you are absolutely right about it being Belly OR Tolliver OR someone else that will get the big chunk of money, and expect playing time. Then we'll see who gets picked up with the 2 vet minimum contracts.
But your math is still wrong. For calculating salaries against the luxury tax, even FA rookies count as 2nd-year veterans at $1,512,000. It's only your own 2nd round picks that can count as a 1st-year veteran. And even with that, my math says we have $7,351,085 to throw at a player and stay under the luxury tax.

We have $10,747,803 in luxury tax space before signing either of our two rookies. After we sign Okogie, we'll have $8,605,443 in luxury tax space. Assuming we sign Diop to the rookie minimum of $815,615, we'll be $7,789,828 under the luxury tax threshold with three roster spots to fill to get to 14. Assuming we sign two more free agent rookies at $815,615 each, we'd have $6,158,598 to pay Belly or some other veteran using the MLE if Belly signs elsewhere. If we want to sign one more vet to the vet minimum rather than signing two rookie minimums, we'd have only $5,461,612 to sign Belly or a veteran replacement for Belly.
Can we sign Belly for $6,158,598 poetry season? I think so, but keep in mind that Ilyasova signed for 3 years at $7 million per year. Can we sign Belly at $5,461,612? I'm not sure about that.
Bottom line is that it's highly unlikely we'll sign both Belly and another vet like Tolliver, Amir Johnson or even Dante Cunningham. I think the Wolves are exploring Tolliver as an alternative to Belly, in which case the Wolves would probably pay Tolliver more than the vet minimum.
I'm a fan of both guys but Ilyasova is simply a better player than Belly right now there is no doubt in my mind.

Don't suppose the Spurs want Wiggins instead of what the Lakers have to offer, I wouldn't mind trading for Ingram, and Kuzma in a 3 way deal.
Re: Wolves 2018 Free Agent Thread
If we pay Tolliver Belly or Ellington and Evans or Bradley get the same money with no contact from us I'm going over to the Thibs hate dark side.

KCP to the lakers

They're just loading up on contracts now. Someone would be smart to make an aggressive offer to Randle at this point.

Based on what wolfson has reported the list of guys the Wolves haven't contacted might be shorter than the guys they have. Lol Ok that's a bit of hyperbole but they have checked in on a bunch of guys and some of them are wing players like James Ennis. Now that's a Lebron has made his decision some more deals should become more clear soon. I think the Wolves are probably looking for very cheap players but that's not a bad idea. There could be some pretty solid additions in that range.
