There were mocks that had us taking Diop at 20. Thibs and co. did a great job getting potential rotational players. Dont know to what degree but I can't imagine anyone not giving the Wolves a passing grade for this haul.

Seems like a replica of our first pick, just older. Wings!

I like this pick...seems like a steal at 48. I recognize he's a senior, but 19.8 PPG and 8.7 RPG in the Big 10 is impressive. I see him as mostly a 3, so Thibs will need a plan to fill our big man roster if 2 of Aldrich, Gorgui and Belly are gone next year.
You just don't expect to get much at 20 and 48, so I have to give Thibs a B+ on this draft.

They're both 6'8-6'9 tweeners in the NBA. Amile played like a traditional big in college, but has since transitioned more towards a wing in the G League and NBA. Stretch 4 is how I would describe both right now.

Great point, Hicks...you gotta expect that Diop should be ready to contribute earlier than Josh.
Re: Draft Day Thread
I know Lip didn't want Diop but I think this selection makes a ton of sense at #48. We needed a combo forward and Diop could be a guy that can do that. Another guard type might not make sense espcially if we add one in FA.
Also some guys are going to be available as undrafted FAs.

Mmmm, Amile was a pure 4 in the G-league I believe. He can put it on the floor from the elbows, but he has very limited range. Big time rebounder, so he definitely played inside a lot. Size wise they might be similar.

I can tell you from watching a number of games Amile didn't play on the perimeter in the G league unless you are counting being switchable. He is basically a Taj Type in that League.
