If that happens, I'll just add it to the list of f-ups by Thibodeau. He gave Gorgui the big contract based on his evaluation of him as a player. At the end of the Thibodeau's first season here he referred to Gorgui as the team's most improved player and then, a month later, he signed Gibson. Thibodeau then inserted Gibson in as our starter at PF over Gorgui. How's that for talent evaluation and rational decision-making? Thibodeau also loaded up on salary last summer, putting the team well over the cap and on the brink of the dreaded luxury tax as an 8th seed. If Thibodeau does the deal Zgoda is predicting, he'd be giving up a first round pick to get rid of a contract he's responsible for to reduce a high payroll he created. That's not someone who should be head of basketball operations, much less serving in the dual role of PBO and head coach.

I'm not disagreeing with you in that it'd be a mistake to use that pick to dump Dieng, but I think you can rest easy knowing that it is not going to happen and Zgoda is a chump.

One of the draft scouting reports from The Athletic's FINCH (from anonymous NBA scouts) piece. It could be fun to read into this scout saying he won't drop past #20.

-Jerome Robinson, 6-4 junior guard, Boston College. "Boy, he's a hot name in the draft right now. Solid, solid, solid. He's going to be a really good player in our league. Can make shots and plays off the bounce. He's like a silent killer. If you load up on him, he can punish you with a pass. He got 30 at Virginia and 45 at Notre Dame. Those are real numbers. Anybody who gets 30 against Virginia on the road - I mean, those guys can guard you. His frame is a little slight, but it's not a physical league anymore. They don't let you touch anybody. I don't see him falling past 20 in this draft."

Best piece of information in the entire piece for me.

"The Wolves will have both the $8.6 midlevel and $3.4 million biannual exceptions but will need to keep a close eye on staying below the tax threshold."

That gets me going.

Couple of small rumors that may or may not be true that we may want to explore.

1. Washington might be willing to trade 15 if someone will take an expiring contract.

Would it make sense to go after 15 maybe Cole for 15 and Morris saves them 6 mill and will hurt us salary wise.

2. In Espn's 6 best nba draft trades they would like to see. they list Lakers might want to trade the 25th draft pick for second round picks to get out of a guaranteed contract so they can chase players this off season.

Would they take our 2nd and a future 2nd for the 25th? Could take Shamet, Allen, Mitchell, or Trent after taking someone else with our earlier pick.

I like the Morris trade and don't think it'd hurt the Wolves that much considering Crawford is likely walking and Belly too expensive. I would do that without #15 attached to it. Wolves aren't going to do better in free agency than Markieff Morris 1 year for 8.6 million.

I'm gonna guess they are looking more at a team taking on Mahinmi (2 years 31 million) not Morris who is an 8 million dollar expiring who can actually play and will be valuable on the trade market either for his contract or his play...or both.

I bet IF the Lakers are willing to dump that 1st round pick they will have plenty of interesting offers. Some teams have multiple 2nd round picks this year they could offer. Heck the Lakers could just pick someone at #25 and trade them later.

Monster is right that washington probably looks to unload a mahinmi more than an expiring markief. But i would still offer up aldrich and 20 for markief and 15. It saves washington about 7m factoring the draft swap. We get a better pick in return.

I will also look if we can swap dieng for mozgov. Mozgov deal is shorter by a year and will be more moveable in a year. I also think mozgov can still play some and should be more if a rim protector than dieng iff the bench.

I would do that mozgov deal.

And i think mozgov could give us a big physical defensive presence in limited. But what do i know, i thought the same thing about aldrich.
