We seemed to be a happier lot losing 60+ games...

I was happy we made the playoffs and had a lot of fun watching the Denver win that got us into the playoffs and watching the one win against Houston in the playoffs. But being happy doesn't mean I am or should be satisfied. Barely making capturing the 8th seed did not match my expectations given our roster. The season before, Russell Westbrook took the Thunder into the playoffs with a far less impressive roster. I was happy with our two draft picks in June and getting excited about the upcoming season. What's making me unhappy now is all the crap coming from Butler and management's apparent failure to deal with it.

Winning 50+ games, finishing in the top 4 and winning the first-round playoff series this upcoming season will satisfy me AND make me happy. :)

I hear you. But I think we're missing the forest through the trees.

The Wolves with Wiggins + KAT is not a good team. The Wolves with those guys and Butler for 58 games + Teague and Gibson won 47 games. That's not an abject disappointment in my eyes... even if the style of play was less than ideal or entertaining or even fun.

With the general turmoil surrounding this franchise right now... I fear that 47 wins might be the best we see for awhile.

I go back to our home record of 30-11. Anyone that attended all the home games witnessed first hand more wins than this team has had in most seasons (home and road) over the past 13 years!

I think it's possible to view last season as a success, while at the same time worry about the future.

Anyone that attended that Denver play-in win....they aren't forgetting that night for a long time. That's worth something.

My post was intentionly hyperbolic. I'm just saying I was more optimistic having a few young guys with High ceilings than I am those same guys a few years later showing little to make you believe they'll ever come close to that ceiling.

I love Buttler and Taj, but it only Wiggins and KAT finally making that leap that will propell this team past second round fodder. As a result of the Rubio years my optimism is running very low.

Do I hate winning and making the playoffs? No. But it true that my optimism for this team has dropped quite a bit these past few seasons.

That post did what I hoped and generated an interesting conversation!

Hope us a strong drug! Once you start to feel all that hope was for naught it's a very short trip to pessimism.

This particular group of players/coaches/ownership have sucked the joy out of being a Wolves fan all while actually having a winning record.

I don't think I was ever as down on this team during their 13 year run of ineptitude. This team just isn't likeable.

I think part of it is that GSW and Houston are soooo much better then the Wolves that despite making the playoffs, the Wolves realistically have zero chance still. I still see very little hope on this current trajectory to win a Championship with Thibs as coach within the next few seasons.

Every team except Golden State can say the same thing today. Who is going to knock Golden State off in the next few years with their current roster and talent? No one. Houston got as close as you could want to get last year and by all indications they're going to regress a bit. I'd rather be in the payoffs with Wiggins and Kat in their early years than hoping another 12th pick is going to save us.

That's true and somewhat a problem for the NBA. Even in Jordan years, they were not THAT dominant or loaded. Even Kobe/Shaq lost to Detroit.

My biggest issue is that both Wiggins and KAT have not improved hardly defensively, without both of them being above avg defenders we will never win even when GSW falls off.

Butler is probably gong to leave and even if he doesn't he's had a history of injuries (60 game seasons) nor is he or KAT in that top 5 talent level you need a player or 2 at to compete for it all.

Let's face it. You need a hell of a lot of luck to win a title. No one thought Draymond Green, for example, would be THIS good. The injury gods need to be kept at bay too. In the meantime, teams need to try to build a winner and hope someone they draft or trade for wildly exceeds expectations.

Luck plays a role of course. But the Warriors were smart enough to take Draymond Green in the second round.
