- Jeff Teague was terrible. Somebody mentioned it was his worst game with MN. They might be right. When he's bad... he does the same thing...
It looks like the team has numbers with him leading the break. And then he pulls it out once he gets within 15 feet of the hoop. And then he dribbles and probes and dribbles and dribbles... and the team never gets the advantage they had when he first had the ball.
It's sorta maddening.
Dribblin Jeff gonna dribble! I hope we don't give back those 5 games we just won.
What was Teague supposed to do in this game? Nobody did anything. People stood around. There was no movement. He dribbled up the court people were covered no spacing no cutting. It was terrible. Houston deserves some credit they played good defense at times and were really getting deflections. I'm not saying Teague wasn't bad but basically everybody had a hand in looking bad on offense. They had basically no answers for those traps the Rockets did on them. It's a test image to the talent level of this team it wasn't a complete blowout.
Towns was terrific in this game on both ends.
Belly seems to have turned the corner yeah there were a couple negative plays but he looks back.
I agree, the 5 minutes he played with Tyus in the first half was fun to watch. He does look like he's gaining confidence. It's mind boggling why he played 2 minutes the 2nd half. It's depressing and scary to me our head coach is so damn rigid. Yes he made a couple bad plays but made quite a few really nice plays. They fact the coach doesn't recognize how to build confidence in a player and realize the potential impact a player like Belly could have is scary to me and disheartening. He's just unwilling to bend from his beliefs. I love hearing the national broadcast teams rip how we play, especially our vaunted offense! It won't hold up against the top teams.
There are two trains of thought on this...
Thibs isn't alone in sticking to tried-and-true rotations. Players are on record that they want to consistency with this stuff... especially veteran players.
For us, just caring about a win that night, it can be frustrating. Last night is a good example. Teague was struggling, Jones had the offense humming (by comparison). But Thibs kept his rotations the same. Jones knew exactly when he was coming in... and going out. Like clockwork.
Knowing that the team is ultimately better with Teague, I can see the merit to giving the veteran the benefit of the doubt in a game like this... hoping it's rewarded with a better payoff down the line.
7 mins in this game for Belly? Well...man that's a bit tough. I'll saw this though it seems like I get the sense from various reports and what he tells the media that he really values the guy. Keep in mind he spent games playing him into the rotation when he looked bad and even the last few games got him in there as a SF. Thibs sticks with what he does pretty predictably but I think he is more willing to change than some give him credit for. Honestly in this game it sorta feels like he would have had to make every right move to even have a chance to win this game even though it was probably a little closer game than the final score. That 3 Gordon hit at the end of the 3rd kinda made it feel like we wouldn't get back in the game.

He had 3 straight bad possessions where he lost the ball against ryan freaking Anderson. He played well in the 1st and had a terrible 1st stint in the 2nd.
Also 2 trains of thought do you really want to play Rockets ball against the Rockets. Or try and go against it with taj and get rebounds. (Even though taj struggle)

Good points. I'll mention that I have heard Anderson has been much much better this season guarding on the perimeter.

This drives me nuts and you see it multiple times every game.
His inability to throw a simple lob or post entry pass are also maddening.

Good points. It can be surprising how many PGs aren't actually that good at either of these. I don't think there are many players in the league regardless of position that are actually good at post entry passes. Manu is one of the best.
