What do we know about Ryan? Or more importantly, have the players ever mentioned him? I've never heard anything about him.
As I said in another thread I believe John Wall talked about how well he liked working with him and Andre Miller talked him up. Rubio spoke highly of him. He is also a guy that came up with some stats and analytics program or something that is widely used. He coached the summer league team a couple years including that year it was Tyus and a bunch of scrubs (CJ Williams was one of the guys) that almost beat the Bulls who had a bunch of draft picks in that summer league championship game. He is a hard working guy and obviously isn't a huge spotlight big talker.
I'll say this about Ryan taking over now. They are fighting for the playoffs and firing Thibs now is kinda weird but things are kinda stabilized a bit compared to after trading Jimmy. It feels a little less crazy now. Still the owner said he wanted to make the playoffs that's some pressure although obviously everyone in the organization probably wants the playoffs so that's not a hard sell. Hopefully Ryan is up for it even if he doesn't do well enough to keep his job I just don't want to see it be a bad situation for him. This team is talented enough even with Covington our for a while it shouldn't just fall apart.
He's a ball handling specialist and he's been coaching in Summer League so the younger guys have worked with him as a HC in that environment. It really comes down to how guys like Teague, Rose and Taj respond to a guy just a few years older than them and in Taj's case younger.

I'm not worried much about Taj he is a pro and I bet he likes Ryan. I would not be surprised if he loses his starting spot though. Teague has been pumping up Tyus and saying he should play more etc. I don't think he is gonna have problems with a younger coach. Rose I think is the more interesting one. I don't think he will cause any problems or anything like that but I think it will be tough for him to have Thibs gone when he was the guy that believed in him etc. That's gonna be interesting.
I mentioned it in another post, and received no comments, but I do wonder if Glen will consider Cheryl Reeve. 30 years experience. 2X WNBA COY, 4X WNBA Champion as head coach and 2X as assistant, 0.696 W/L %. I'm not endorsing her but it would be a "bold move Cotton"...

I think there is going to be increasing league pressure for including women in the search process and I personally would like see some women get head coaching shots in Basketball. Women have been coaching bball for so long and it really doesn't make any sense why the success wouldn't be translated.

I think it would be a tough transition. You'd need exactly the right coach and situation for it to be successful... for that woman to be the trailblazer.
Obviously, you'd need a strong organizational identity with strong leadership, especially among players who would undoubtedly hear chirping from many around the league.
Personally, I don't think the Wolves are that trendsetting organization right now.

Haha. Yeah ultimately I think the Wolves wouldn't actually make the hire, and I agree it would be tough for our organization to trailblaze and make that hire. But I do think they'd give her interview which was the point I'm making beyond saying that it should be fairly easy to make the rationale that a woman can be successful as a head coach in the NBA.
