Bumping this thread since Okogie's our guy. Have to imagine he showed out in his workout with the Wolves against the likes of DiVincenzo, Brown, and Alkins. No easy customers there. High motor and great physical tools on display.

Landry Shamet has been balling out for the Sixers as of late. He's getting more run with J.J. Redick being banged up and he's been money for Philadelphia. Putting that smooth shooting stroke, high basketball IQ, and overall fluid style of play on display. Not trying to do too much but playing his role very well. He's a medium-value addition to an already exceptional core. Oh, and he somehow fell to the bottom of the first round.
12 G, 20.0 MPG, 7.8 PPG, 2.6-6.0 FGM-FGA (43.1%), 1.8-4.4 3PM-3PA (39.6%), 0.9-1.2 FTM-FTA (78.6%)
If you extrapolate his 3P-shooting over 36 minutes, he'd be hitting more than three 3P per game on high efficiency, which is getting into flamethrower territory.

I'd noticed he has been putting up some nice numbers so I'm glad you brought this up Cam. The funny thing is he went higher than a lot of the projectors said. I liked him. How high would I have taken him? Idk but so far the Sixers look like they found a nice player.

Yep, still thinking our win in the last game against Denver is hurting us. A loss would have meant missing that terrific 4-1 playoff series...and likely the firing of Thibs (which certainly would have put someone more capable than Thibs in charge of the Butler situation) plus drafting a guy like Shamet at 14.
Ah, but that Game 3. Good times (sigh)

I feel that Okogie is gonna be a better player than Shamet. It would have been pretty hard to pass up Porter with him dropping to 14.

Okogie might end up the better player...if he can learn to shoot, that is. But I think we could have had both (or Josh and Porter) if we had missed the playoffs and kept our pick at 14. My position hasn't changed, and is even strengthened in the wake of the Butler disaster...winning that Denver game wasn't better than adding a player at 14 and getting rid of Thibs.

So I assume you planning for this team to miss the playoffs the next 2 seasons in your scenario?

Re: 2018 NBA Draft: Cam’s Prospect Watch For No. 20
Landry Shamet hit a career-high eight threes tonight. The guy can flat out play, and his perimeter shooting has been consistently good all season. It's one of the main reasons the Sixers felt okay giving up two key floor spacers in Robert Covington and Dario Saric in the Jimmy Butler trade.
October: 11-31 3PA (35.5% 3P)
November: 33-80 3PA (41.3% 3P)
December: 20-53 3PA (37.7% 3P)
January: 11-24 3PA (45.8% 3P)
This franchise has had terrible luck in bringing in volume three-point shooters, but could have had Shamet at No. 20 overall and had a very cheap flamethrower from deep for the foreseeable future.
I'll iterate that I'm a fan of Josh Okogie and think he was a good pick. He was one of the guys I pegged at 20, but guys like Shamet definitely have their place in the NBA and if I can spot them out, then NBA front offices should be able to as well. At some point, Minnesota needs to hit on these shooters.

Yeah, it's been a bugaboo for us for many years now.
But just as frustrating is our inability to develop and mold shooters even if it isn't their greatest strength to start with. Okogie shouldn't be THIS bad based on his college track record. Why is Jones still so mediocre from beyond the arc. Wiggins finally looks OK-ish after 5 years. I mean, the Spurs would have these guys humming by now!

Shamet was valued by this board more highly than what it seemed like most NBA teams did. Lots of posters here looking smart. :)
