Some people are who they are and look weird forcing stuff, but I hope KAT being non-confrontational was worth it because now everyone thinks he's soft, exploits that out of him when they play him and he winds up proving them right. There are situations where all you gotta do is show them once that you are not to be messed with and people will lay off of you. Towns needs a "don't F with me" instance in his career for people to change their opinion of him.

I'd say the same about Wiggins except Wiggins is a lost cause and I think even his supporters have run out of ideas to save him.

Wiggins just needs a coaching change, that's all.

Update: Listened to McMullen on the the Zach Lowe podcast. She's not exactly a fan of KAT and Wiggins after spending time with them.

She'd choose LaMarcus Aldridge over KAT for the ASG...

... and she basically said Wiggins is making things harder for all Canadian players because some people assume all of them are as soft as he is.

As I've said before, whether anyone thinks Jimmy Butler is a good guy or not, the fact is Wiggins and Towns have bad reputations (Wiggins especially) and they're not exactly convincing others to think they're being thrown under the bus

I'm listening to this now and the reason why she says she would take Aldridge over Towns is because Towns didn't show up for that Philly game. It's kinda funny that Aldridge basically didn't show up for one matchup against Towns. She said she wants consistency...Aldridge shot HORRIBLY to start the season...so did Towns. I'm fine with Aldridge over Towns and yes that Philly game was damning but I find it a bit amusing even if there is truth to that game being really important to Towns perception as a player.

Overall some good stuff in there about various guys especially when they were talking about Jamal Murray and Denver. Jackie was concerned about Butler being on thin ice with his act. Both Jackie and Zach wonder what his contract is gonna look like and Jackie isn't convinced Butler will be there in Philly long term. It was also interesting hearing some of their commentary on possible Gasol coneley trades.

I think her reasoning is silly (one game). But that just shows how narratives can grow or fester.

Butler calls KAT soft... KAT plays soft in marquee much-publicized matchup = KAT is soft narrative has legs.

Interestingly, Butler's attitude and how it might affect his desired max contract has almost seemed to mask the fact that there were very real questions about his health/age affecting that max contract.

Butler is on pace for another 60 - 67 game season... he missed his 7th game since the trade to Philly last night.

Agreed on all points.

Everyone sees the Spurs more (and it's not like Aldridge didn't have a rep for being soft) and they notice how the Spurs are still doing well this year so people are giving Aldridge credit. The only times it seems like many have seen Towns this season has been under this cloud that has been this season and they notice his shortcomings a lot more. They see the negatives we see but they're magnified by the outside media because the impression Towns and co. leave is felt more. If you tune into a handful of Wolves games and all you remember is Wiggins doing nothing on the court and Towns always in foul trouble and having these lost spells at times, you're gonna presume guys like Butler, Embiid, etc, are right. It's not as if Towns and Wiggins have allies who will defend them among the basketball media.

Yeah if we were top 4 in the West Jackie would love Towns and Wiggins. They just need to win and keep moving forward. Let's get it done tonight, make some noise the rest of the season and surprise some people in a good way for once. Every national criticism is deserved because we perpetually lose and play underwhelming ball when we do. Ryan has a winning record so far, let's keep it going.

I am assuming Jackie has changed her mind on the KAT/Aldridge topic when you see that Aldridge posted almost identical stats against Embid the other night.

With all of these minor injuries occurring to Butler keeping him out for a game or two, I am suspecting this is still about his knee. If you think about it, why the hurry to get a deal done with the wolves. It seems like he was willing to stay if he got the 5 year deal here. He could be just masking a knee issue.

Watch it sjm... nobody cares about winning more than Butler. It's all he cares about.

Just ask him... on national tv.
