I know it's way too early for any conclusions, but kudos to you guys who saw more in Dunn than I did pre-draft. Terrific potential with this kid, not to mention he's a very easy guy to cheer for...what a story!

Good to see him knock down a couple of 3's too. If he can do that, it will be a huge difference maker over the long run.

Last night's game wasn't much of a litmust test but what if in the next 12 games Dunn continues to shine? What would have to happen for Dunn to unseat Rick?
Having been on the Dunn Train for a long time I'm happy we get to see him perform with the first unit . It can be as tough to guage a guys ability based on who he's playing with as who he's playing against.

He's Thib's guy, if the team continues to develop chemistry and win games with Dunn starting I think he'll have a hard time slotting Rubio back in. Not a terrible problem to have, especially if Jones continues to play well with the second unit, it could make for an interesting trade deadline!

To unseat Ricky, Dunn's biggest thing he needs to do is a) show that he can run the offense in a disciplined manner, and b) show that he can knock down the open jumper consistently enough to keep defenses honest.

Defensively, I think he will eventually be better than Ricky. And that's no knock on Ricky. Dunn could be THAT good. From a team defense perspective, he's already shown an ability to get defensive rebounds and get into passing lanes at a pretty elite level for a PG. These are two things Ricky does well too.

Offense is where he can separate himself from Ricky. You have a history of criticizing Ricky's scoring, yet ignore the facts of how the team offense plays when he's on the court. Ultimately the measure of Dunn's effectiveness on offense is how efficiently the team scores points. Right now he's got three issues to address: 1) He turns the ball over too damn much; 2) He is not a good free throw shooter; and 3) He is an inconsistent outside shooter.

I don't think he needs to dramatically improve all three of these areas to eventually wrest away the starting position from Rubio, but these can't all remain liabilities going forward.

Who is Rick? Is this local political talk?

Ok in all seriousness we are just gonna have to wait and see if Dunn plays well enough to be the starter going forward. I don't think Dunn has to look like a star to take over the job from Rubio. It's 3 games into his rookie season and his first start he got to go up against guys that were inexperienced as well. I'm looking forward to seeing what we get from him. I can't help being optimistic in hoping he takes the job and runs with it.

I never felt the need to point out the obvious that the team played better with their starting pg in the lineup as opposed to not. I have wondered what this team could be with a scoring pg and if that would translate to more wins.

They aren't really built for a scoring PG. Or if you want a scoring PG ala Irving, Conley, Lillard, Lowry, etc. be prepared to part with Wiggins, KAT, or LaVine.

Dunn could ultimately be the ideal fit - a guy that can defend just as well as Rubio, if not better eventually - while also being a "good enough" threat to score on offense, such that teams can't totally sag off on him. But this team offensively is built around getting the ball to three guys, none of whom play PG. We saw how Rubio orchestrated this group to elite levels of offensive production in the second half of last year. Hopefully Dunn can do the same.

Sorry to play the role of Debbie Downer, but it was one game against a rookie memphis backcourt that were drafted a lot later than Dunn. Let's wait a few more games before proclaiming him the Glove 2.0.

To be fair, if those three are as good as many here claim and/or think... they won't need a PG who has to orchestrate everything for them.

They might even earn some of that credit for their own good play and carry the PG along for the ride.... whoever it is.
