Is it a red flag that Dunn is struggling at PG? He is older then both Zach and Tyus. Am I jumping the gun?

I don't think it's a red flag, at least not yet. You have to give a guy some time to get his feet wet.

I just finished watching this game.
I'll post a few thoughts now before reading the thread.

Lavine was impressive tonight. Maybe just as impressive as anything he did offensively was a couple defensive possessions. Once he somehow stayed in front of Gordon and walked up at the rim and that helped force a miss. The Magic scored but it was impressive how he stayed in front and moved his feet. Another time he was switched onto Ibaka and they wanted to go to that matchup but Lavine worked hard fronted and they couldn't get a pass in. I'm. Or saying Lavine is some lock down defender but the guy has come a LOOOOOONG way there in effort awareness and just doing what you expect him to do wit that athletic ability.

Interesting how Tyus is getting all those minutes. Oh all those people saying John Lucas was the guy in front of him? Riiiiiight. Tyus is clearly. Ore advanced as a PG right now than Dunn. That shouldn't shock anyone. He was more advanced than Lorenzo Brown at every level last year. Dunn can play D and I think he can play PG at this level but he isn't there yet. I like him. I also like Tyus too. If a team wants Tyus they are gonna have to bring up a pretty good offer the way he has been playing even with some struggles at times defensively.

Also a pretty good game by Bazz. He generally played within himself and even made a couple plays defensively. I thought he wasn't going to get minutes either...

Good win they let the Magic back in but finished it off. I heard the Magic were awful when it came to advanced stats. It's early but if that's true you wonder if the Wolves will be on the rise and the Magic falter. Vogel has shown to be a good coach and there is talent there so it's hard to believe they are gonna really suck.

Payton has some nifty ways and angles of finishing. It's frustrating but also kinda fun to see it. It was also fun to see Dunn take his lunch. Lol

Jon K made some solid points on Dun and the offense in his last podcast. He said Dunn is still a rookie playing the toughest position to learn in the NBA. He mentioned a few times how young this team is and how he thinks at times guys are still thinking what their assignments are. So not only is Dunn learning on the fly but he is playing with young guys finding their way in a new system themselves. Jon also pointed out it's not just players. Thibs likely is feeling his way a bit also. He has committed to playing a much quicker pace because it's obvious the roster is built for that. Well that's new for Thibs. What team has he been a coach whether as an assistant or in Chicago did they get up and down the floor? I was thinking they may have wanted to play faster at times in Houston even with Yao because of all the offensive talent they had but they had all those injuries. Anyway his point was Thibs maybe learning how to get offense going with a faster pace not just grind it out. When do the Wolves really struggle? When they have to play possession after possession in half court and not get any quicker opportunities. Some of that is obviously tied to their defense.

Ok so back to Dunn. He doesn't know what to do. It reminds me a bit of Lorenzo Brown although Browm was more chill and made solid plays but he also had more pro ball experience than Dunn has when we saw him get chances. Brown seemed to have enough skill you would think he would attack to some extent but he would be too passive and not really have any real plan as what to do so he just played it safe. Dunn has more physical talent than Brown and likely will become a much better player but generally he just doesn't know what he should do on certain plays. Should be just swing the ball around or dribble a bit to create or look for his own shot? He just doesn't know right now. In addition he sometimes just does what is expected and therefor throws some easy to read passes that the defenders are taking away. Does he suck? Eh it isn't clicking most of the time but I think he will get it enough. His ability to defend though looks legit. That's something to get damn excited about. When was the last time we had a defender like he looks to become? Also through it all he doesn't seemed faded and like a couple guys said innate podcast the guy plays with an edge Especially on D. He wasn't my guy when we drafted but I feel relatively good about him actually. I think as a PG he will come around and be good enough. His shooting? Idk I just haven't seen enough it's too early especially considering his other struggles. He doesn't seem to have that great of body control when he attacks the basket which is kinda weird but I saw that to some extent in college too. He fills up the stats sheet and does some good things already. Part of him being on the bench is because Tyus seems to be legitimately be playing well so he should get some credit for that.
