Come on, Abe...both teams were missing similar players. Both were missing their starting PGs, and their burliest center...sounds like a wash to me :) . Well, I guess they were missing their starting SF too.
Ok, maybe we were playing the Grizzlies' JV team with 3 starters out, but I would argue we actually learned something very important last night...the Wolves are MUCH deeper than the Grizzlies. And depth is something that is critical in the NBA. When the Griz sit three players, they are forced to play 3 guys few have heard of. If the Wolves were missing 3 players at the same position, they can start Cole Aldrich, Kris Dunn and Shabazz Muhammad (or Brandon Rush). Depth is one of the main reasons I don't see the Griz finishing ahead of the wolves this year.

I'll tell you what, that's a gutsy call by Fiz to punt on a game against a team most likely competing with them for a low playoff seed. They have New Orleans tonight at home, so I suppose he was willing to concede this game knowing that a full-strength and well rested squad could beat New Orleans and split the back-to-back.

Well, their depth and no-namers were good enough to beat us on opening night....without their starting SF.
These guys have some gritty players that can get the job done when their main guys are active.

The Grizz have some nice young talent. D Davis looks like he could be something and Baldwin looks like a guy that could be a starter at either guard position. When was the last time Memphis had some legit promising young players? Some of those other younger players look like they can at least be contributors when they are a full strength team.
