Terrible news. I'm not a Kobe Guy I didn't really like him much of his career but he was clearly one of the best players to ever play the game. I haven't been following him closely at all after he was done playing but it seemed like he was finding something new maybe growing into something apart from being a maniacal competitor. He seemed to be finding something new reinventing himself in a way that seems from the outside pretty legit. I was kinda starting to find him more likeable and then...damn He is gone. It felt like Kobe had a lot more to give plus his daughter gone too? Even my wife knew about it. That's pretty far reaching.

It still doesn't seem real. I didn't like him most of his career, but he started to grow on me late in his career when he seemed to be a lot more about the team and helping the young guys around him. Then he seemed to go from everything being about him while playing to everything being about his kids and the youth in general.

Just so sad every way you slice it. It really sounded like he would have ended up being a great societal influence (more than he ever was just from basketball) when all was said and done. Now we'll never know what that might have been.

So many families destroyed in the blink of an eye. Ugh.
